And when it comes out the octa-core machines won't be good enough.

I think they will if the software is written properly.

FSX had to get a hurry up patch to catch up with hardware cause they missed
the boat on multi core.

But I know that's a dead horse

I suspect the Flight Sim programmers are pretty 'top notch'. They have to
deal with the economic side of things for sure.

Of course so would anyone trying to take on a project such as a flight sim
that would compete against MS. I think it's coded as properly as it can be.
Always room for improvement as technology changes but it's a money making
venture and must remain so else we won't be getting any new versions.

Not only that, but the hardware technology is constantly changing. If
they took the time to develop what they really wanted to see, the
technology would pass them by and they'd have to recode. It would take
probably two to three times longer to write the code than it already does.

Don't ever think that the next version of FS will run better on lesser
hardware. They have already stated their goal to provide sliders so it will
still run on lesser hardware by reducing its features, but that it will
include enough goodies to make it a far better product for those who have
invested in better hardware. They have stated that they understand that
some users will buy addons that will only run on a certain version and they
will want to keep that version past FS upgrades, so the capability is there
in the software. Beware when you put the sliders all the way up: your frame
rate will definitely go 'way down unless you have just upgraded to hardware
that is not here yet.

Hi Butts,

If you decide to get a new computer, are you going to run your ideas
past us all here, before you buy anything, so we can all get our two bob's
worth in, mate?

Ibby.. reckon I was hearing things.. I'm a bit nervous to recheck
JW thanks there and you have mentioned it before..
If 'Canny' can't get his Q6600 to run FS smoothly do say the earlier duo
cores match FSX better?? I recall guys getting great frame rates... or so
they claimed.
Meantime I do have other priorities to spend any spare cash on but looking
promising Smile
The next sim may be more of an upmarket game in order to increase sales????
Guess FSX plus best researched combination of PC components through you guys
would be best approach.
Meantime FS9 still enjoyable
