FSX - Better To Have More Memory Or Fast Memory - Hi, To explain the question in the title, I have 2GB of fast memory (DDR 500), and also have retained the old 1GB of DDR400 I used to have before. I've been using the fast memory as DDR 400, but this allowed me to squeeze the latency settings right..

FSX and amount of memory used - Just curious. After running FSX for about 20 minutes I have about a 500-600K FSX.EXE file. What are you guys getting?

I've been able to reproduce this error on two machines, one
with FSX activated and one unactivated. Both machines
have completely different hardware, except for 2 Gb RAM.

Reboot the CPU to clear memory, then start FSX, and at the
Free Flight screen select the following in order:

Current Location - Auckland NZ Intl, default active rwy
Current Aircraft - Learjet
Current Weather - Clear skies - immediately after pressing
OK the following fsx.exe Application Error comes up:

The instruction at "0x20e869fb" referenced memory at
"0x1a49b06c". The memory could not be "read".

Selecting different weather results in the same error, but with
different memory addresses. Also, the referenced memory is
in the lowest 512 Mb, and the instruction is in the second
512 Mb, so at least 1 Gb would be required, but may be
mapped differently from 2 Gb.

The interesting thing is that if you start the flight right after
the selecting the Lear, then change the weather, there's no
problem. Then, immediately quiting FSX and restarting it with the
above procedure also results in no problem.

Works fine on my rig. Did the exact procedure as listed above.
Also getting 40fps which is nice, perhaps I'll fly a little
around NZ. Obviously sheep aren't in the autogen. Razz

Cheers,
Rod.

Hmm... Interesting. The only other thing common to the two
machines is the install DVDs. Maybe there's a bit of corruption
on one of the DVDs. I wonder what cab file fsx.exe is in. Strange
that of all FSX airports I've visited, this is the only error, and it
only occurs if things are done in the given sequence. As I said,
if I load the location, start the sim, then change the weather,
there's no problem.

I have the exackt same problem right now and i dont know what to do about it. What i wonder is if you have solved this problem yet?
I read that you only´got the problem on one airport. But I get it everywhere.
there is another forum where two others got the same problem, if you wanna check it out:

http://forums.simradar.com/Re:_FSX.exe_application_error._The_memory_could_not_be_read_P382849.html (http://forums.simradar.com/Re:_FSX.exe_application_error._The_memory_c...d_not_b)

I contacted mircosoft support and they wanted me to send them the logfile on my system. I'm wating for answers.

hi all, does anyone know what this means and what i could do to fix it?

"The Instruction at '0x20e869fb' referenced memory at '0x0779784c could not be 'read'"

I had recently installed an add-on for fsx.

Cheers
Max
