Hi,
I am not sure what is this - if I install SP2 all my water is gone,
everything is messed up, I am flying from Logan and see all forest instead
of ocean. If I uninstall SP2 everything turns back to normal. I have a bunch
of custom sceneries installed and have SP1 installed.
Is it known issue and how to fix it? >> Stay informed about: FSX SP2 scenery non-sense |

Many of the custom scenery developers have posted patches for minor changes.
You might check their individual forums. Other than that, major scenery
issues such as you describe have not been reported.

No. MS has the core product. They could care less, and rightly so, about
the thousands of 3rd party add-ons. They fix their product and the 3rd
party folks have to work with it.

UTX USA is not a 'thousands of addons'. It is as I assume one most popular
package of em all.
BTW dreamfleet 727 aircraft stopped working too, FSX now just terminates
abruptly.
One way or another it is just not a correct approach to force you into any
re-installs etc after installation of something named 'service pack'. i
wasted some time on it I would rather spend differently. >> Stay informed about: FSX SP2 scenery non-sense |

You can't be serious. You design a widget. I design a widget that works
with yours... mine actually requires your widget to function properly.
Three other people design 3 other widgets that also require your widget to
function.
So now you change your widget. Works damn nice.
Now you only have to get the 4 other add on widgets (only 4 here) and
re-work your product so the only 4 other widgets known to man will still
function.
I don't think so. In fact I think you would not rework your widget for even
1 other add on widget... even if your mother did it.
That's what I think.

Must be that d*&%^ MS and their abominal FSX program!!
You would think they would at least, have re-written/updated UTX for their
SP2 update...

I don't think I have ever heard nor experienced any s/w which has given so
many problems as FSX does and I've been doing this since '83. I htink it
was FS2K which was a bit flakey if memory serves, but FSX takes the biscuit.
I finally got mine running so-so (and I have a fairly powerful system Q6600
CPU, 4Gb RAM, ATi 1950GTX card) but I rarely fire it up as FS9 gives a much
more pleasurable experience. SP2 I found actually slowed frame rates so I
went back to SP1. I never went down the Accelerate path.

I have similar rig, q6600 overclocked at 3ghz, 8gb ram, x64 2003 MS Windows
server, 8800GTS Nvidia card.
FSX runs at 18-20 fps at top, over airport and complex cities - 12-14 fps
top, with extremely dense scenery and dense autogen.
I also have traffic sim installed, btw, may be it adds up to general
slowliness. >> Stay informed about: FSX SP2 scenery non-sense |
