Are you shitting me? You have exactly the same system as me yet yours works
and mine doesn't. Go figure.

Maybe I'll try that, except I hate unistalling/reinstalling.
Tedious! But I guess try this week and report back.

I'm up to date with all Vista Ultimate updates from the windows update
site, shouldn't that cover it?

You might also have a read here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/191660/en-us?spid=11941&sid=global

Perhaps something in there might save you having to do a clean install.
You certainly should not be receiving that error message running on your
system.
I suspect it might be related to your Direct X install, perhaps a file in
there has gotten damaged somehow...

I'll check it out thanks, but I would have thought if something was wrong
with my DX setup then FSX SP1 shouldn't work either, but it does, hmmmmm.

After reading all the intuitive remarks I have a couple things to add:

1. "New" drivers may not necessarily be a good thing. But once a problem
is identified with a 'new' driver - it is corrected. You may wish to
tell
the company of your issues to aid them in creating a better driver.

2. Windows XP Service Pack 3 is an issue. I've had to remove it
from numerous computers to cure network and other issues.

3. And I'm not sure where I read this - if you have FS/X expansion pack
installed - do NOT install FS/X Service Pack 2. (I think it's part of
the
readme.txt on the Expansion CD)

My 2 cents worth.
