This is as far as I've ever gotten in San Andreas...

So Denise is the first girl I've ever dated. Unfortunately it seems my
progress with her goes down by 2%, twice a day... wtf?

And the game crashes to the desktop after the cutscene for Management
Issues. "Windows has encountered an error and needs to close. We're sorry
for the inconvenience".

Are you going to see her regularly? If you get a phone call with a
girlfriend organising a date (The 'You gonna come round and see me
baybee?' kind of message) and you don't go it affects your progress
with them. You should get a message in a black box that says something
like "You missed your date, she won't be pleased" and then it'll show
the progress bar with a red minus number next to it.

I don't know why it's going down 2% per day though. The only girlfriend
essential to the plot is Millie, but that's way later in the game.

Two others, for convenience, can be gotten right at the start. Katie is
in San Fierro on the gold course (Practicing Tai chi) and Barbara is
outside the cop shop in Tierra Robada. Dating both of these has it's
perks. With Katie you won't lose all your weapons if you die (She's a
nurse) and with Barbara you won't lose your weapons if you get arrested
(She's a cop).

Couldn't tell you on a bet. Whenever Windows starts being funny with
programs, especially games I basically "plug and pray" with other
applications.

Most of the time it's just Window's programs, especially MicroSoft
licensed stuff, hogging all the memory.

*sigh* How I miss computers that were faster with smaller resources Surprised(

It doesn't say anything about a missed date. All that comes up is a bar
labeled "Progress With Denise" and you see a red bar at the end of the
green, just like when you lose fat. I have "Second Edition" which is v2.00.
Maybe it's broken.

Neither did I, and then she showed up in Las Venturas when I was trying to
woo Millie. I had to lose her _and_ avoid pissing Millie off (she's a
nervous passenger). If it ever happens again, I'll just let her catch me and
see what happens...

It's a missed phonecall, - unfortunately it can't be avoided.
The gf's will occasionally call when you're in their area, but if you're
in/on a vehicle or inside buildings you will miss it.

Yep ;o)

It seems a shame if R* have neglected to model the human physics as well as
they did with the cars, though, if the above is true. Human terminal
velocity is about 5% of Mach 3 (120mph when spread-eagled, as the falling
characters in GTA:SA are). You reach it after falling for about 5½ seconds,
so any fall from higher than about 820 feet will yield the same amount of
pancake, irrespective of how high it starts.

Incidentally, CJ survived a fall from the base jump building in LS
yesterday. If you jump without a chute, you can't skydive, so pressing [Up]
has no effect. Full armour, health and [Up] seemed to help survive the fall,
though. With the health left over, he jumped off a two-story building and
died...

I've been trying to find out how to replicate this and it does indeed
turn out to be totally at random.

The first time I thought I'd be smart, and as vehicles go faster
forward than back, put my foot down to go past her. A cutscene
interjected before I had a chance to say 'WTF?' and I lost progress
with her.

Especially strange as it was Barbara in a Police SUV, and I'd only just
completed "Burning Desire" so the bridges were still all closed. Katie
and Barbara were acquired using some skilful Dodo flying right from the
start of the game before doing much else.

Maybe NPC's do have ninja skills after all Surprised|

As long as I've been playing this particular game, there is no
"occasionally", it's guaranteed that Denise will call twice a day, at around
00:00 and 19:00, whether I'm in the area or not. I think I'm going to kill
the bitch.

Happens every day, twice a day, no matter what I do. I think I would like to
crash the bitch in a plane. How do I even get a plane? I'm still in Las
Santos, and haven't even done Management Issues yet... that's my next OG Loc
mission. Doberman is my next Sweet mission. I did both of the CRASH missions
(why are they called CRASH?).

I admit, I did exaggerate. It was more like mach 1.5 ;o)

The only possible time they did make the landing physics realistic is
during the mission "Stowaway" for the airstrip. Jump out of the plane
before doing anything else in the mission and you'll get a hidden(ish)
cutscene of CJ falling on to the roof of a car that's parked up in the
outdoor cinema in the desert (A little north-east from Carson).

SA is quite funny when it decides whether CJ dies or not. Everytime you
jump with a 'chute selected and don't open it you splat. Sometimes he
can survive massive heights.

At first I thought it might be like GTA1, in which vehicles and your
playable character won't sustain damage if you fall any height on to
slanted ground, like a hill or something. Good for stunt jumps.

I also found SA amusing that you can skydive from max ceiling height and
land in a shallow depth of water - like a swimming pool - and survive!

That Gibson Flying V at the V-Rock hotel *does* look cool when directly
above it Surprised)

Go to the entrance of the airport runways. There'll be a little
security booth with a guy inside saying you can enter without a pilot's
license. Simply park a car next to this, jump on it, climb on to the
roof of the booth and then jump down the other side. Now you have
access to a Dodo (A small Cessna single engine) and a Shamal (Lear jet).

You won't get a proper pilot's license until very late in the game, but
if you fly a plane around for a while eventually it'll say that you can
access airports.

CRASH is an acronym:

[C]ommunity [R]esources [A]gainst [S]treet [H]oodlums

Originally coined by the Los Angeles Police Department I think. Los
Santos ("City Of Saints") is based mainly on Los Angeles ("City Of
Angels").

"Doberman" is cool, you'll have access to Ammu-Nation afterwards so
it'll be easier to acuire guns and armour.
