I'm building myself a circle to get the hang of character construction.
After coming from D&D, it's such a relief no longer having to juggle 50-odd
numbers to build a decent demigod. There's 50-odd charms to juggle instead,
but at least they have interesting names -- "Immunity To Everything
Technique" in particular sounds like it could have come straight from a
badly-translated kung fu movie. Great stuff.
Here's the first one, a Twilight martial artist/healer along the lines of
Wong Fei Hung or Yu Shulien (from CTHD). The combat monkey will wait until
I think I've got a better idea of the ins and outs of the system.
PADMA ILLINDRA
Quote: "Hold still, this won't hurt a bit."
Padma hails from the forests of the southeast. At an early age she learnt
the arts of medicine from her mother, a healer who was said to be favoured
by the spirits, and the arts of self-defense from her father, a warrior of
some renown. One day, while on a journey to meet a trade caravan, she
experienced a premonition of great suffering befalling her village. She
hastened back, to find the village razed to the ground, its inhabitants
slaughtered and the smoking ruins guarded by a few soldiers of the Realm.
Their reaction on seeing her was stunned surprise, followed almost
immediately by a frenzied attack. It was only after defeating them that she
noticed the burning aura of light surrounding her.
Eventually she managed to find her father, still barely alive despite the
torture inflicted on him by the Realm's soldiers. The Wyld Hunt had
descended on the village just days before, searching for one of the
Anathema. They refused to accept that no such person existed in the
village, and after their standard methods of persuasion failed to reveal
anything, they put the entire village to the sword. After recounting his
tale, her father died, her skills no longer able to sustain him.
Five years after the destruction of her village, Padma has made a modest
name for herself as a healer and teacher of martial arts. She have vowed
not to let the knowledge passed on to her disappear, and to use it as she
was taught: for the betterment of all. Her dream is to build a hospital, so
that more patients may be treated than she can handle sherself. She
searches now for a suitable location for this hospital, ideally an
unclaimed Demesne, or better yet, a Manse. She feel passionately about
relieving the suffering of the sick and injured, and sometimes has trouble
controlling her anger when she sees an outrage being committed.
Padma is a medium-height, athletic woman with dark skin, shimmering black
hair and a penetrating gaze. She appears to be in her late 20s or early
30s. She wears comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, consisting of pants, a
long-sleeved tunic, and a long silken scarf.
