Hi evreyone !
I just installed Unreal Anthology, so UT2004. Finally tried it online, using
my UT99 Nic, without my caln's tag.
The funniest thing happened, two players were arguing wheter I should get a
different Nic, or include my clan's tag. I should point out that we're a
UT99 sniper clan only. I just stayed out of it, new world for me.
I want to keep the same Nic, easier to find players I know, and enjoy
playing. The clan dosen't support UT2004, so I won't use the tag.
I'm just curious what you guy's have to say about this.

I'm not sure what the issue is? Lots of people drop their clan tag
when they change gametypes. I would cordially invite the two players
to kiss my ass. >> Stay informed about: Etiquette |

It's your game, your choice. I'm with Folk. It seems silly to advertise clan
allegiance ingame for another game altogether. >> Stay informed about: Etiquette |

My view also. It's not like there is a law
Only thing an I really see being wrong with regards to Nics, or tags for
that matter, is using someone else's Nic or using an offensive one.

Good point also Bruno. It always kinda irked me to see the {ASS} tagged guys
playing on a server and the admin getting after someone for saying "damn".

Even more stupid is a server who kicks someone for saying "damn".

So very true. Do ya think "Die, bitch!" is disabled?
I wonder what part of human nature makes you want to control things to that
extent? Body parts flying everywhere, blood splattered on every surface,
homicidal behavior is both encouraged and rewarded and it's improper to say
"hell" or call someone a "dick"? >> Stay informed about: Etiquette |

Beats me. I've played on a server that has that stupid "replace bad
words with other words" mod. I asked about it, and they said it was
to make it more "kid friendly". I told them they should read the
minimum age requirement on the UT box...
Bottom line answer though was just as you alluded to... "it's my
server and I'll implement any little control-freak rules I like". >> Stay informed about: Etiquette |

I guess *maybe* if you were playing something like freeze tag I *might* see
a reason to watch language, but even that's not kid friendly because you'll
gib if you drop too far. I think the control freak part of it is probably
closer than anything I've said. I watched an admin kick a player the other
night for knocking her bender off a ramp. She was just huffy because she got
owned in front of her buds and did it to get even. A couple of the players
got on her for doing it so I lied and said I had demorec running and I was
going to send it to the server owner. She left, ran down the player on
another server and brought him back. It was just a silly thing to happen but
control is paramount for some people. >> Stay informed about: Etiquette |

Well. Went back to the said server, only to be banned. With the box telling
me my nic was offencive ! Only when I added my clan's tag could I log on
again.
The next day, went back, and no clan's tag was necessary. I guess the
control issue is again prouven.

Better hang on to them. Some fine caregiver might be thankful on your
behalf.
I actually keep a few around the house for the odd dirty, wet job like oil
changes or plumbing work. I once bought a box of the disposable surgical
drapes at a yard sale and those things were suh-weet! You could nearly
change your oil into one of those and it would absorb it. >> Stay informed about: Etiquette |
