Nah, you don't need any of them to have been cleared, just let *her* get
the aggro first (so she doesn't run off and aggro more while you're
fighting the first bunch), then quickly nuke them down, easy. Trust me,
I've done it without any clearing being done, I know what the spawnpoints
are, having spent plenty of time in that place farming Scryers rep.

Ah... It reminds me of my first character, hearthing back to Menethil
Harbour, then taking boat across to new lands and spending a good hour
trying to find my way across the Barrens when I didn't know where I
was, or where I was supposed to go. Eventually my Hearth cooldown
disappeared... Not until after all red armor and so many corpse runs
at the crossroads...

This happened to me... I was able to fight off the initial 4 that
spawn when you start the escort -- I was on my Druid and used
Challenging Roar to keep them from killing the prisoner. Who promptly
runs off and attacks an Undead Warrior. The guy seems puzzled, but
ends up killing my escortee. So I killed him in return (this is a PvE
server, but by now we're all flagged).
I made a mental note to come back and do it when I turned 70, but
decided the fool can stew in captivity for all I care.

I recall taking my level 5 druid to Eastern Kingdoms, not knowing anything
of the Wetlands and trying to figure out how to get to Ironforge from
Menethil. I got eaten by a croc and then a spider and gave up, putting it
off for another day.
Now I'll spot someone obviously running a lowbie that way and will escort,
even if I'm the opposite faction. I was doing my Hammerfall-to-Kargath run
a few weeks ago on a 30 belf paladin and escorted a low teen nelf through
Wetlands and Loch Modan, agroing spiders and clearing the 20ish orcs for
him so he could make it through to the top. (Fortunately he didn't try
following me into the Badlands.) >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |

I'd have to agree with this. I tried this solo as a 66 warrior, and
got smoked by those damn warlocks in the center. When I got back, a
blood elf pally was doing it (this character is a night elf), and was
in trouble, so I emoted /question at her, and she emoted /help, so I
helped her clear them out, then helped her with further adds until she
finished the escort. She then went back with me to the escort target
and helped me in return, healing the escort target when she needed it,
and fighting beside us.
I love my server.

Heh always nice to get help like that I still thought it was easy, but
perhaps because the last 2 characters I levelled past it were casters -
nuking the warlocks from range is dead easy. I do recall usually ending up
aggroing extra ones on my rogue though; didn't like that place at all on
him, but it's been so easy with my casters that I'd forgotten that.

On my shadow priest I didn't have any trouble, and that despite going
to Terrokar Forest right after Zangarmarsh, though there were a few
people around killing mobs then, so they weren't quite as dense as
they could have been (though they were still far from being heavily
farmed). When my mage did it not so long ago there wasn't anyone else
around really, and it took two attempts to do it. The problem would
be she'd run to one of the groups in the middle, then going from to
mob that had gotten agro then, she'ed end up agroing another group,
and so on. But doable still. My prot warrior is up to Terrokar
forest now. I suspect it's going to be very hard to solo with all
those casters.

The chicken escort quest hierarchy of difficuly:
1. Hinterlands - pretty easy, especially if you clear the slimes near
the beginning just before starting.
2. Tanaris - moderately difficult. Pre-clearing is pointless as the
trip is so long.
3. Feralas - hair-pulling difficulty.

He didn't even mention the gorilla ambush *before* the furlbogs! The
Feralas one throws the kitchen sink at you, and you'd better stay
*damn* close to the chicken or it flunks you right out. This one is
ridiculously harder than the others. With the huge nerf bat that
Blizzard has swung at Azeroth recently maybe it's easier now.

Last time I did this a few weeks ago there was a swarm of about 20
furlbogs standing near the quest mound. Literally all on top

Ouch.

Sometimes I wonder.
I was in the STV fishing tourney this past weekend. There was already
a winner, but since they've increased the money reward for Tastyfish,
I was just merrily fishing away (and got the fish that gave me the +5
fishing line ).
I was in SE STV, by that Bloodsail camp with the Buccaneers and
Warlocks, when I came across a tastyfish pool, and a Buccaneer that
was sprinting back to his spawn point. A lvl 19 Human Rogue came
swimming in, and I realized she must have been attacked while trying
to fish that pool. It's obviously much easier for my 70 Belfadin to
roam STV, so I mounted up to ride away, and let her resume fishing the
pool.
The Buccaneer attacked her again. I HoJed him, and killed him while
the Rogue watched. After the Buccaneer was dead, she said what
translated to me as "ador".
I've Googled this term and cannot find an Orcish translation, only a
confirmation that "ador" exists, and is apparently used in PvP a lot.
Since words are still a numerical translation, the Rogue said
something that was 4 letters long. It might have been "tyvm", but for
some reason I get the feeling it was "lmao" or "rofl".
Maybe the pessimist in me?

I know what you mean. PvE is so much nicer.
I was doing the earlier quest to kill a certain number of mobs, with my 66
human hedgehog paladin, and a tauren warrior was having trouble initially
trying to rush the locks. So I'd use Avenging Shield to pull and drag them
out beyond the perimeter of the towers, and he got the idea and started
pulling with his bow. I'd fight alongside him so I could share my
Consecration AOE and he'd help me finish my kills.
I came back later to deal with the mana bomb and that went fairly well. The
fight with the boss in the tower was slow due to the mob's heals but he
eventually ran out of mana and I downed him.
Then I came back down, cleared some locks to the center and triggered the
bomb. I had to bubble when I got close and pulled extra locks but once the
bomb went off it killed all mobs in the center.
I then started the escort. I let the escort choose targets and then pulled
them off her. The only (minor) issue was a 70 mage (my faction) showing up
and creating excess chaos by dragging mobs into range of my escort and
getting her to attack them. But I was able to get her to safety, and I
still had 10 minutes to spare before the server shut down for Tuesday

When I did it last time, I let the chicken alone and I stayed away from the
slimes. The chicken did not aggroed the slimes. No fight. Since I only tried
it once, I don't know if it is a reliable method. >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |

I've done that a number of times now.. the quest, I mean, on a
warrior, warlock, rogue, hunter and paladin.
In all but one case where I actually grouped with someone, I've had
help/helped someone from the opposing faction.
I have to do it again for my Mage and priest soon..
I think the best way to go will be to start at the entrance to the
village and clear everything up the right hand side before starting.
This should work for the mage, at least since she can kill them
quickly enough that we probably won't get too many respawns on the way
out.
The priest might have a problem though..
.... and the end quest of that area, where you have to go kill the guy
at the top of the tower.. soloed with all characters but all of them
bar the paladin had to take two swings at it. And it's a pain,
because you can't get back to your corpse if you die at the top.
Unless they've changed it so ghosts can use the transporter?
After that though, the reward is getting to set off the bomb and kill
all the bastards who gave you so much hassle. >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |

The funny thing is, I've occasionally had experiences like that on a PvP
server. I recall once helping some low levels with something and the Horde
warlock was using his aoe spell while I was in melee range. I realized I
was taking damage (negligible at my level) and that were the roles reversed
I'd need to watch that.
In principle, the Alliance and Horde are under a truce, so in RP terms
those who kill under such conditions are threatening a fragile peace. >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |
