Desolace? Boy, were you in a particularly wrong area to be a lower-
level searching for our FP.
It's a level 30-40 zone, but even heading to Shadowprey Village at
level 30 is perilous.

I usually have no problem with the sleeping druid in Darkshore, so one day
I was running to get the FP in Astranaar with a guildie and we decided to
do that one. (We had just done the one with the dryad at the lake nearby.)
As we reached the Ashenvale border, we encountered an undead rogue on epic
horse. He stealthed and ganked us as soon as we crossed the border and
flagged. This was early on a Monday morning, when we figured the server
would be reasonably empty.
It was about that time that I put my half dozen PvP toons in mothballs.
(The only reason I have toons on that server is that my team of 8 years
started there when they started playing WoW.) I just can't bring myself to
go back and play there anymore. >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |

Funny, that's one I find quite easy, but I probably don't get to that quest
until I'm a couple levels high for it. I just let her tank it. (This seems
to be the best strategy for most escorts. Stand back and let the escort
choose the fights.) >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |

I generally don't attempt them until I'm several levels above the
quest, unless 1) I know the quest route is very short, and I can pre-
clear most of the mobs; and 2) the quest mobs follows my path.
I really enjoyed the Tooga quest, especially his funny comments along
the way. I also found it funny that the programming on the text of
this quest is messed up a little, so what Tooga would say is, "Are we
there yet, $NAME?", or something like that.
One thing that drives me batty in escort quests is when the escortee
doesn't notice that you were surprise-ambushed by some repsawned mobs,
and keeps walking. You try to catch up, a mob Dazes you, the escortee
disappears, you fail. This happened during the Sunspring Post quest,
and actually my lvl 70 Hunter failed that Feralas chicken quest
*three* times because those 4 or 5 Gnolls would spawn on her while the
chicken was already way ahead.
Why must some mobs have overly-aggressive behavior? I finally got
around to doing the end of the Tirion Fording series of quests two
weeks ago. For "Scarlet Subterfuge/In Dreams", where you escort Taelan
Fording through the town, he'd get off his horse and start to attack
mobs *after* we had already passed them.
And I actually find the Skettis escort quest very hard. Then again,
I'm a Holy Paladin, so my DPS consists of a judgment every 10 seconds,
and a Holy Shock every 15 seconds - the rest of the time I'm hitting
with a 41.5 DPS mace. I can Consecrate, but after the first round of
mobs, after healing myself, I have hardly any mana left, and the
escort dude doesn't give you much time to drink. I actually failed
that quest once because I just couldn't get the mobs off the escortee,
and my DPS is such that I couldn't kill them fast enough.

Whats even worse is I didn't even know Shadowprey Village was the
horde town, I initially was trying to get to Nigel's Point, following
the signs I saw on the road. I actually did get close, but then saw
alliance guards. On my way back was when I saw the horde buildings of
the fortress and decided to give that a shot.
Keep in mind, this was my first character and I had been playing for
about a week when I found this place. It was only later, when I
looked it up on the internet, that I found out that shadowprey village
was all the way in the south of the zone. >> Stay informed about: Escort quest frustration |

Wouldn't call those trivial but yeah, not too hard - especially once I came
to realise the cow could actually solo 1 mob so I didn't have to madly try
and get aggro on everything!

Lol I found that one easy, maybe she's changed? Had zero trouble soloing it
with a holy priest...
One that I find a pain is the Kurenai (or Mag'har) captive in Nagrand, who
not only gets ambushed by 5 mobs at once at one point (ok a couple are low
health but still), he also runs off after *unflagged* members of the
opposite faction, leaving them no alternative but to kill him and flag
themselves, or else run away a long way and cause the poor sod doing the
quest to fail and have to start again. Why on earth they can't just flag
him as non-agressive to the other side I do not know, it's stupid :-/

Haven't done the Hinterlands one, Feralas is impossible, the multiple yetis
kill me every time. Tanaris was easy enough with paladin or warlock, not
tried on anything else though.

Yup, took me 3 attempts to get it, doesn't help that holy nova doesn't deal

Ouch, never reached the furbolgs, I always skipped that quest after several

Eep! Only came 2 at a time when I did it, that wasn't too bad as a warlock
although my voidwalker was running out of health by the end. Think I waited
till I was a couple of lvls above it though.

It depends on the escort quest and class trying it - a lot of the old world
ones are really group quests that are not marked as such because they
never went back to rate them. In my experience, it's all about downtime -
if you can get your health and mana back after each fight, you'll usually
be able to survive the individual battles. It also depends on your NPC
partner - some of them are really badass and you can let them take aggro,
since they replenish health/mana almost immediately outside of combat.
Others where the NPC hits just hard enough to get themselves into trouble,
and where there are wandering mobs along the path that have nothing to do
with quests, those can be a pain! *

Both of those can be quite hard if there's nobody been by recently to clear
out mobs at the fringes of the (fixed) patrol path. My warlock and rogue
had no problems with either, cleared or not, but Bessie was a nightmare for
my paladin - too many spell throwers at extreme range.
>

Yep. That's your little clue that it's a group quest really, or one to do
when the path has been cleared a bit first. If you know the quest, walking
the patrol path backwards, clearing mobs at the edges, helps a ton - then
you only have the scripted spawns to deal with. The good thing about
escorts is that they usually have very nice rewards. *

I didn't found this one very difficult. The one in Terrokar, in the tomb,
south-west of the caravan, is quite difficult because the draenei you have
to escort generates a lot of threat and the enemy kill him fast.

Chasing aimee. The annoying problem with that quest was the ridiculous
respawn rate. You would clear the gorillas going into the cave, and they
would be back before you were all the way out. *
