| Epic Mount Quest Completed - Ok I did it last night and thought I would report back. We had a group of 3 60 paly (all with the quest), 60 mage, 56 druid (couldn't find a priest). The group never wiped. We had a close call once in the bat room where 4 died. In the Great Ossuary..

A rogue in my guild rode one for a while not out of choice but out of
necessity. See, he was a blood elf. When he hit 60, he grinded
battlegrounds for a while and eventually bought the undead PvP mount.
Between 40 and 60, all we did was make fun of the big bad roue riding
a rainbow colored mount. |

No. I mean, sort of, yes. The bird is funny, but in a "funny to be with"
rather than "make fun of" type of funny. I love the sounds it makes and the
way it moves. A bit arrogant but beautiful and full of grace - fits BE very
well. I've worked on rep with Silvermoon specifically to be able to get one
for my troll. Next good mount is epic kodo - it really looks like a battle
mount. Fits all direct combat classes, especially warriors, and everyone
that wants to look tough and mighty. Undead horses are nice but they only
fit certain race/class combinations, not for everyone. They look mysterious
and fragile, good for warlocks, mages and shadow priests of races of similar
posture - undead, BE, troll. Raptors fit "fast" classes - hunters and
rogues. The PvP one with tauren in the saddle looks quite nice as well
(suggests fury warrior). Wolves would be great as PvP hunter pets, with
their spikes and teeth, but they are not good as a mounts.
On Alliance side the best and only are cats, forget about other choices  )
As for special mounts I like talbuks, but they only go well with healing
classes. Warlock mounts are good but paladin smelly horses fit only humans
and dwarves, no elf should ever ride that thing. Qiraji bugs are great. Too
bad there is no viable way to get one that works everywhere. I didn't see
the raven thing yet in action but I'd definitely want one if I had a chance.
Netherdrake - sky limo. Good for long flights between zones, not good for
combat because the flight effects, big flapping wings and torso take too
much of the view. Nether ray - ech? What exactly is that thing? Yuck!
Gryphon - looks kind of ok, not so much on the ground. Nonepic look better
than epic ones. Windrider - swiftness and grace of cat on the ground, still
as good in flight. Phoenix - never seen one. Looks like a custom made gold
limo from pictures, a nice replacement for Netherdrake ) |

I didn't like the nether rays at first from when I had been flying
between Skettis and Ogri'la on them, but then I needed an epic mount,
the drakes would take too long to get and the gryphons are boring, so
I picked up a nether ray. I quickly came to love it. It's like the
BMW Z4 Roadster of the sky. : )

Yep, it's very rare indeed, in 2 years of playing WoW, in a large guild
with a lot of dedicated crafters, I've only ever known of two people who
could make it... both of which have now left. I've been personally looking
for the recipe for simply ages, never once seen it on the AH, which is
infuriating given how useful it is.
Having said that I think I read something about all disarm immunity effects
being changed as of 2.3, so I guess it won't be so useful any more after
that. A shame, as I've always kept a spare dagger with a chain on it in my
rogue's bags, with the logic that dropping a few dps on my offhand is
better against disarming mobs than having my mainhand removed altogether
(and so being unable to use any abilities while it lasts)

instances. That doesn't sound so good. I'm hoping that it's because
99% of people that do those instances don't have the quest and the
drop rate will increase significantly when I'm on the quest.

I bought it from ally AH. I tried to get it from horde AH with no
success. I tried to buy it on trade channel, and then someone
whispered me and recommended ally AH. I logged to my ally alt and lo
and behold: There were half a dozen pristine black diamonds in ally
AH. I bought one for around 5g, moved to Everlook and made a trade
with a guildie through neutral AH. Worked nicely.
Later I thought that I should have bought all of them and sell them in
horde AH with a good profit.
The drop rate is low because it is a random drop. Any of the mobs in
some instances can drop it. The problem is that not many people run

 I'm on a PvP server so I can't do that. Guess I'll just have to
keep looking. (I tried farming it in Strat with my 70 druid but that
was way too hard)

They were dropping like candy in a BRD run I was on the other day.
Try there. But for my own purposes I've got a enough stashed away
from pre-TBC days. Anyone remember when they used to sell for
astronomical amounts?

Ooo! I'm going there tonight then What level's BRD? Mid 50s? I
reckon I could solo that for a while. What mobs were you getting them
from? (Please don't say the packs of Dwarves after the shadowforge

After VMK said that he found his on the Ally AH I logged into one of
my alts on my Alliance server. There are loads of Pristine Black
Diamonds on their AH! What's that all about? What do they do
differently from us to get so many more Pristine Black Diamonds?
Maybe they have the same amount with less demand because they have
fewer levelling Paladins as they've had them forever.
Anyway, I'm thinking about getting a trial account to see if there are
any on my server's alliance AH and to transfer it over. Does anyone
know if that will work? Specifically, can trial accounts use the AH?

Black Diamonds drop in BRD. I've never seen a pristine Black diamond
drop there though.

Afraid they can't, there's a lot of trading limits on trial accounts to try
and reduce goldselling a bit, and using the AH is one of the limited
things. Only real thing you can do is try and find a friendly alliance
person to help out; maybe someone from this group is on your server?

I thought as much that's why I checked before going through the hassle
of registering a new account and having to cancel it when I was done.

It would be great if someone could help out - I'm on EU-Ravenholdt and
looking for an Alliance character to buy a Pristine Black Diamond and
put it on the neutral AH at a time that I can snap it up straight
away. If anyone can help then please email me by replacing nospam in
