My lvl 60 BE pally got epic mount yesterday.
I was a bit worried about the last part of the quest chain, because it
required a visit to Stratholme. Fortunately I'm in a nice guild and I
easily got a group for the quest. The quest itself is trivial... Just
enter Strat through the backdoor and go to the nearest building
(chapel), kill Aureus when he gets angry and handle the adds.
We had a full group (two lvl 70s and one lvl 63), so we decided to go
a bit further too. I was pretending to be a tank and I was actually
doing quite well. I was quite surprised because I could hold aggro in
some boss fights, although our lvl 70 warlocks probably weren't using
their full DPS power.
Too bad it was getting quite late and I had to go to bed (work next
day), so we didn't get to the final boss. One of us got the key to the
city though.
It was interesting to see Stratholme again. I hadn't visited the
instance since the last year.
I have to say that I really like the looks of the epic pally mount.
The lvl 40 version looks boring and I almost replaced it with a
hawkstrider, but the epic one looks very nice indeed. >> Stay informed about: Epic pally mount quest on the horde side |

Small server, no guild, could never find a group - I never got the
epic Pally mount. There was no way I was going to ride a bird, so I
grinded UC quests for a few days, and bought a green skeletal
warhorse.
Now that my Pally's 70, I've considered trying to solo this quest. I
don't know where Stratholme is, let alone know what a "back door" is.
How hard can it be? (Plus that Blood Knight Tabard looks really
cool.)

Trivial is an understatement. If the paladin epic mount quest was a
jog around the football field, the warlock epic mount quest would be
an expert marathon. >> Stay informed about: Epic pally mount quest on the horde side |

Hawkstrider is the best mount in the game, it's a fact
Kodo is next, epic pally mount is... not so good
(and being a holy spell with 3 second cast time its bad in PvP
and cannot be used with aura change in macro).
I've done this quest on 62 level with a shadow priest just
for riding skill and Blood Knight tabard

I will be grinding for rep to avoid this for my belf rogue. I hate those
chickens, just as I hate the mechanostriders. (My gnome has a cat.)

If you mean human and getting Stratholme Holy Water:
I was able to solo first undead pack at 60 (the one with elites, non-
elite groups are not a problem), but it required Lay On Hands - this
gives you access to 1 or 2 crates, depending on luck. At 63 you should
be able to solo them without it, so you can get more crates without
instance reset.
If you mean Blood Elf part - no idea...

Seems to be unanimous - we all think the bird looks ridiculous. It
always make me chuckle, however, to see Magister Aledis on his as he
nonchalantly patrols Hellfire Peninsula, totally oblivious to the
roaming Elite Fel Reaver, raining fire comets, dark and gloomy
ambiance. Ah. It's a lovely day for a walk, isn't it?
I do think the Hawkstrider kinda suits some classes more than others.
But the idea of my bold and dashing Paladin riding a thing that looks
like a feather boa that grew scaly legs and a twitchy head. Um, no.

My Pally is now up to 43...I really think the Prot Pally is the new Easy
Mode Wow..
Not the fastest killer, but NO downtime at all.. just mob-mob-mob.. and
wherever possible lots at once.
Couldn't find a blacksmith to put a spike on my shield for over two
weeks.. gave up in the end and took mining and blacksmithing, bouth the
mithril spike plans off the AH on a rich alt. levelled to the required
215 in about three days.
Now I hope to make loadsa dosh selling shield spikes...
I really want the steel weapon chain and the mithril spurs plans to drop
too..
Anyway, do you think the Strat parts of the Epic mount quest would be
soloable for a prot Pally?
I did the elite hunter quests in Stranglethorn (Bhag'theera and Tethis so
far) and it's actually easier when the adds appear .
Also did Stranglethorn fever on my own which was really fun.. all those
gorillas pounding on me and ended the whole thing on full heath and mana
(did need to bubble-heal just once though). >> Stay informed about: Epic pally mount quest on the horde side |

You have to take on several elite paladins that are only a few levels
lower than you, so doubtful because they are pain to kill. All you
need is one level 70 with a key to the backdoor (a rogue as well if
you don't have a key). >> Stay informed about: Epic pally mount quest on the horde side |

Mithril spurs don't sell anymore. Instead of level 60s getting new
boots every now & then and getting spurs, level 70s just have riding
crops. Spurs were typically 1G, now they don't sell for 25s in the
AH. Chains & shield spikes should still be good sellers.

My gnome is still too young for a mount (lvl 30 atm); she'll get a
mecha-chicken at 40 as I won't have the rep for anything else, but by
60 I may well give her something else... maybe an elekk, as the size
difference would be fairly comical >> Stay informed about: Epic pally mount quest on the horde side |

Yes, I have to agree after looking on the AH... no spurs at decent
prices... but no spikes at all so thats good, and I can make those now
(Still have buy Truesilver bars though.. won't be able to mine that for a
week or so).
Unfortunately, the weapon chain appears to be both rare and random in
it's drop... sigh. >> Stay informed about: Epic pally mount quest on the horde side |
