One of my major obsessions with the old World of Darkness was creative
uses of the Umbra. Looking through some old Wraith stuff, I see a lot
of hints about the city called Enoch.
The Wraith books mention Enoch, city of vampires in the Wraith plane of
the Umbra. Ends of Empire mentions it from the outside, so to speak,
but as far as I can tell, doesn't say anything about the city's
inhabitants, their customs, dealings with the normal WoD, etc. I
expected Sea of Shadows to detail it, but it doesn't seem to do so. Is
the City of Enoch detailed anywhere in the old World of Darkness books,
or is it left as an eternal mystery to make the metaplot more obscure?
I would hope that there would be material somewhere in the Vampire
books or the Wraith books. Perhaps it wouldn't be as detailed as the
old 1st Ed. AD&D World of Greyhawk book, but I was hoping that there
would be some explanation of how the vampires managed to cross over.
I know that Werewolves and Mages could cross the Gauntlet. I was not
aware of any Vampire discipline that could do so. I didn't see any
mention of such things in any Giovanni materials.
If anyone can shed light on this, I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: Enoch, city of vampires in the Umbra -- how did the vamps .. |

'Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand' details Enoch and the cult of vampires who
use it as their base. The 'Vampire Storyteller's Handbook', for Revised
Edition, describes what happened to said cult /after/ 'Ends of Empire'

In short, the city of Enoch first appeared in Dirty
Secrets of the Black Hand, wherein it was detailed
in some degree. Subsequent developers didn't like it,
so they blew it up.

It would almost certainly be done by Cappadocian Methuselahs...When in
doubt, throw a Methuselah at the problem, those walking plot devices
can do just about anything necessary. As for the others, I doubt even
Garou Elders could manage such a feat, tho surely Masters/Archmagi
could...
There's your Crossover plot hook: PCs need to find each of the three
original vampire cities to put <McGuffin> together. Finding Enoch in
the Underworld leads to clues that the other two are hidden in the
Astral Umbra and the Deep Dreaming...How do they reach them, let alone
defend themselves along the way? And what might the Elder Vampires
within have become, drinking the blood of Angels and Dreams?
Dex,
hoping the New WoD will have stuff this cool in it... >> Stay informed about: Enoch, city of vampires in the Umbra -- how did the vamps .. |
