Have you contacted them about it ? They had to change printers and
deal with the fallout from that but I thought the dust had settled by
now.

6 MB - not too bad, even on dial-up - I hope you didn't buy ToW

I'd just be happy to receive my actual physical copy of Empires in
Arms so I can start playing it - you know, the game that I bought and
paid for on New Year's Eve, 32 days ago?

Yes, I emailed NWS 4 days ago, got the reply that they were expecting
a shipment from Matrix the next day - but I still don't have a game in
my hands, nor any confirmation that it has actually been shipped to
me.

Yeah, that's OK.

LOL! As if! I don't buy many games, but when I do, I want a game that
I can play, not just pretty graphics so I can pause the game and bust
a nut over the "simply gorgeous" weapon models and "jaw dropping"
damage graphics, as someone here seems to prefer.

Someone has completely lost it it here ...
Listen, it might be news for you, but nobody gives a hoot *where*
software gets developed or who publishes it. It's the end-product that
counts. And as far as wargaming is concerned the Russians are at 1
swing, no hits.

Copies of EIA have been shipping for a while now. Could you e-mail me
at erikr DeleteThis @matrixgames.com with your order number and I'll find out
what's going on with yours? >> Stay informed about: Empires in Arms - patch 1.01 |

Well, off to play ToW some more, Usenet is of much less fun, and BTW I am
tired of people telling me what is fun for me... Play your games then I am
not messing with your choices or taste.
And BTW, I buy a lot games and certanly not all have been excellent but many
are. Some have been stinker hehe something which goes with the name
Commander or something like that... lol
Well, it's nice to see that those Russians have started to trample American
game development. LOL
Is this start of the new Cold War? Is this sign that Russians will reach
Alpha Centaury before Americans? Is this sign that Russians will make
something better than those Los Angeles Class Submarines worth 500 million
$? Stay tuned our dear readers... But I kind of pity Americans, they have so
much money and then those barbarians from Siberia take the lead, must be
really hard...

Looks like there's some confusion there. The box specs were probably
reviewed more recently than those in the manual, so I'd assume those
are the final official specs. However, from what I recall from our
testing, EIA ran fine on 98SE with 256MB RAM and an old video card, so
it seems like I need to get this clarified. I'll chat with Marshall
about it on Monday and make sure that we clear up which is the correct
spec.

Thanks, Erik, but it finally came in the mail today (from NWS, not
directly from Matrix).
One question popped up on reading the first page of the manual: the
back of the box says I need XP, 512 MB RAM, 64 MB Video card; but the
manual says I need only 98SE, 256 MB RAM, and doesn't mention the
video card. Which is it?

To BP,
EIA was on backorder at Matrix for a short bit around the time you
ordered from us, we did not know this until we had our restock order
already placed with Matrix. The reason for the backorder was due to
the fact they had to wait for more manuals to be printed. As soon as
they shipped out our restock order to us we shipped yours out. If you
ever need to inquire about when your shipment is sent out please do
not hesitate to email me. Sometimes our shipping notifications get cut
off by anti-spam/anti-bulk clients. If for any reason you do not see
your shipping notification please do not hesitate to contact me
anytime.
As a further note.. based on the information given to us by Matrix we
now have full notices on our online store as to which games are on
backorder, usually due to waiting for more printed manuals to be
published. I am doing my best to keep that information as updated as
possible based on what information we are told by Matrix. Backorder
notices will only be posted if a) we do not have any in stock and b)
Matrix is not shipping the game due to being backordered.
I hope this will help clear up any concerns.
Thanks

Ah, understood, that must have been in the period between the initial
air shipment of manuals and the follow-up sea shipment arriving. EIA
sold very well and we went through the initial air shipment before the
sea shipment arrived.
Although we're dealing with some back-order issues now on a number of
titles (due to the printer transition), we are already well along in
the process of restocking at much higher levels than before. Within a
month or so, I expect the wave of back-orders to be behind us and not
to be repeated on this scale ever again.
