Hi all, Well I just finished playing Half-Life one for the umpteenth time
and lo and behold, Not a sign of the elevator bug!!!
Did Valve fix it or is it something in my system that did it ?
I have upgraded to 2 gigs of memory since I last played it but am still
running a 2.4 ghz Pentium 4 proc, also am now running an ATI X1950 AGP video
card and running Vista SP1.
The whole game ran without a hitch and was still as enjoyable as the first
times, I gues the HL series and mods will always be my favorites, even over
some of the recent new games I have played.

Methinks it's Vista or the video card or a combination of both.

I also think you got lucky. I just played through a couple weeks ago
and encountered it a couple times. I also played through Blue Shift
again and encountered something completely new, for me anyway. When
descending in the elevator with the two scientists at the beginning of
the game, it seemed they hit an invisible floor or other constraint, and
both of them would instantly become gibs. This failed my mission and I
repeated the elevator sequence several times, each time at a certain
point, they would both insta-gib. I had to restart the entire game to
get past it. >> Stay informed about: No Elevator Bug |

It turns out the elevator bug was in fact not a bug at all. It appears
that Valve, in their infinite wisdom employed the feature as an
analogy on the continuing exploration of quantum mechanics.
They're very subtle at the Valve people. No large breasted support
character dialogue here. No no... >> Stay informed about: No Elevator Bug |

I'm not surprised. I have never experienced the elevator bug... I don't
think it's *that* common...
