It is impossible to understand what the hell is going on! You can still
enjoy it, but to play it for real you must know how to read Japanese I'm
afraid!
Not worth getting on Japanese, wait for an English language version maybe.

Oh, shush, stop winding him up.

There's no Japanese in it, bar some completely unnecessary stuff on the
main menu.

Language is no issue, as it's not strictly a game. There are no
objectives or scores or dialogue to worry about. Only the descriptions
of the various plankton. There is a good FAQ on Gamefaqs that explains
what they all do, but it's just as much fun figuring it out for
yourself.

Not quite. Don't overestimate it - it's a simple interactive musical toy.
It's brilliant, easy to lose hours to - but some people won't get it. "A
music video thingy" is a little OTT.

It sounds great through a hi-fi. Most people wll have different faves but
Lumiloop, Luminaria, Hanenbow and Beatnes are my particular ones.

Shame Beatnes doesn't have a bazillion more loops.

I am having a blast with with it...really cool....it was announced at E3
too...so expect a PAL release along with the Nintendogs...which looks very
cool and Jam With The Band (Diagossis in JAPAN).

Sometimes known as 'Daigasso' too ; )

Yep, Daigasso is absolute quality, I've had it for months - easily one of
the DS' best games. Nintendogs is very good too!

I played Electroplankton and it was okay for about 10 minutes, then it got
boring. How it can be marketted as a full game, I don't know!

It should be a free Wi Fi download or a free offer on Nintendo VIP.

I've yet to see it advertised or marketed as a 'game' anywhere.

It's promoted as interactive media, which is pretty much spot on. It's only
people who don't bother researching or reading the newsgroups who would,
wrongly, expect a game.

It's not a game.

And if you find it boring you have no soul.

In fact, I think Electroplankton love should be the new official
worldwide test for soul, used by governments everywhere.

On a more serious note, I find I can lose a long, long time to it. You
need to - and I can't believe I'm going to use this phrase - get into
the groove when playing with it. It's a really focused experience, more
so than most - and I can't believe I'm going to use this phrase, either
- interactive entertainment.

I suppose it's one of those things you either enjoy or don't, but it's
one of my standard DS carts now, not something to be played with for a
while and then left behind.

And surely it's not actually possible to properly explore all the
different modes in ten minutes? It's be liked listening to the first
three bars of every song on a CD and then saying you've listened to it.

I have to say I thought it sounded quite nasty amplified, due to
everything being at a fairly low sample / bit rate. In fact, the low
bitrate causes the most damage I think, in the form of white noise
artifacts.

It's still a wonderful thing though.

I don't see anyone marketing it as a full "game" in the same way, say,
Mario 64 DS is.

>It should be a free Wi Fi download or a free offer on Nintendo VIP.

Well if that's the case, then who would have paid for the development?
