In reguard to Oblivion:

This question may seem silly, but I kind of like the brilliant lights
from torches inside caves.

Where do you find all the torches?

Can you buy them somewhere?

I'm down to a mere handful, and have to walk around
in the dark a lot to conserve energy.

Thanks

Most general merchants have them - they're in the last tab. You can
also find them in containers, of course.

Are you sure? I have been to all kinds of stores repeatedly...
and no torches. And I already got the 9 or 10 torches from the barrels.

Hmm. I just tried starting a new game, and sure enough, I can't see
anybody with torches to sell. I suppose they always had them before
because I only sold the things, never actually using them myself.
Well, I think the best place to look for them is in barrels in mines.

Good question. Hadn't really thought about it & just checked a couple of
places I remembered.

Crate next to wall near "The feed bag" in IC Market always seemed to have a
torch. Another crate is near Mystic Emporium. Couple of barrels in starter
dungeon at Vilverin. (1st barrel as you enter always seems to have a
couple. Other barrel is in the main gallery near a column & treaure chest.)

At the risk of being a spoil here's a hint if not familiar with following
quest. (Better safe than sorry so skip if you like.)

Up in Chorrol a possible quest will lead you to a place called "HackDirt".
Plenty of barrels with torches & lots of fun with the locals! Smile

BTW: ever considered buying the "light" spell from Calindil at Mystic
Emporium? Seems about the same amount of light as a torch & frees up your
hands if exploring with 2 handed weapon.

Become a Vampire and never need torches again! I've played most of the
gameas a vampire (about 85 out of 105 hours) and it's great!

Still not got around to finishing the main quest though... I will this
weekend so I can get on with KOTN etc

Kulgan.

yea, vampires can be fun, but it gets old having to dance around the
daylight all the time. If one wants to be able to close oblivion gates at a
relatively low level with far more ease, being a vampire really helps [in
later stages of vampirism when strength is increased].

Ha...I noticed that those I sucked blood from have 'red eyes' the next time
I see them...assumedly now vampires themselves. But like you mentioned,
being a vampire kept me away from normal quests it seemed, so I 'got the
cure' and returned to normal eats of cowburgers and fries. I doubt you
could do the Knights of the Nine quest as a vampire for example, since you
would not be morally worthy. Deepscorn Hollow is good thing to have as a
vampire [is it a mod...not sure; was on KotN disk I added on].
