Good news for Animal Crossing: Wild World fans - the Nintendo Easter
bunny is heading to your town this weekend, bringing all sorts of
seasonal treats.

There's no word on what said treats will actually be, but we do know
that everyone who takes the game online this weekend will find a
selection of goodies in their mailbox, accompanied by a special letter
from Nintendo.

To receive your treats, all you have to do is log on via Nintendo's
Wi-Fi Connection service between Good Friday and the end of the weekend.

As it turns out, only people with a *European* cart got an Easter
present. In particular they got the Green Pipe. We in the US got
nothing.

Remember, there are three types of carts for most popular DS games...JP
(Japan), NA (North America), and EU (Europe). Each cart accesses a
different part of the Nintendo Wifi network.

The Japanese network has been *extremely* good about wifi gifts, I
quote from Liquefy's JP FAQ from Gamefaqs:

""******************************************************************************
32) MARIO THEME
******************************************************************************
>From December 9 to December 26, 2005, six Mario Theme furniture items
were
available to download via Nintendo's DS Download Service. The items
appeared
in the game attached to bottled messages from Tortimer.

The items do not appear in the catalog.

Here are their names, their size (small=one space, medium=two spaces,
large=four spaces), their purchase price/selling price, and any
additional
info:

Kinoko or Mushroom, small, none/256, makes sound

Koin or Coin, small, none/256, flashes and makes sound

Suta or Star, small, none/256, flashes and sounds music

Hatenaburokku or Question Block, small, none/256, flashes and makes
sound, can
place items on

Faiaba or Fire Bar, small, none/256, spins and sounds music

Nokonoko no koura or Koopa Shell, small, none/256, makes sound

The following item was attached to letters from Nintendo near Christmas
2005:

1UP kinoko or 1UP Mushroom, small, none/256, makes sound

The following item was attached to letters from Nintendo near New
Year's Eve
2005:

Hota or Flagpole, small, none/256, flag moves and makes sound

>From February 2 to February 19, 2006, six additional Mario Theme items
were
available to download via Nintendo's DS Download Service:

Rengaburokku or Brick Block, small, none/256, can place items on

Kirahoudai or Cannon, small, none/256, fires Bullet Bill

Faiafurawa or Fire Flower, small, none/256, changes color and makes
sound

Dokan or Pipe, large, none/256, piranha plant moves and makes sound

Supamario no kabe or Super Mario Wall

Supamario no yuka or Super Mario Floor

>From March 2 to March, 2006, the following two items were available to
download
via Nintendo's DS Download Service:

Burufarukon or Blue Falcon, large/256, revs up and hovers

Pikumin or Pikmin, medium, none/256, flowers wiggle and makes sound"

End of quote.

In the US, we have only had four wifi gifts...The Coin, in mid-January.
A glitched red tulip, slightly after that. A Lovely Table, for
Valentine's Day. And a Top Hat for President's Day. The Top Hat seems
to still be active now and then, as I received it once a full month
after the holiday (as have others).

I have no idea why Nintendo of America is neglecting us so, but don't
forget, they did the same exact thing when AC for GC hit the
market...After a couple months, almost no support.
