'Duke Nukem Forever' confirmed for 2008, coming to home consoles
Dallas Business Journal - by Stephen C. Webster Staff Writer

Garland-based video games developer 3D Realms has confirmed Duke Nukem
Forever, the highly anticipated sequel to its revolutionary 1996 PC game
Duke Nukem 3D, is headed for retail release in late 2008, and will be
coming to Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 home video game
consoles, as well as the PC."

However, in the real world, this was said:

"Clarifying an earlier report from the Dallas Business Journal, 3D
Realms president George Broussard has said its highly anticipated Duke
Nukem Forever does not in fact have a solid 2008 release date, and
will still ship to consumers "when it's done."

Broussard made the announcement on the company's website, which states
that "there seems to have been some confusion between what was 'off
the record' and what was not" with regard to the original article,
which had studio head Scott Miller firmly saying the game would ship
in 2008.

"While we have internal targets, dates and goals, like every
developer," said Broussard, "we are not ready to share them. What's
amazing about this is that the [Dallas Business Journal] must have
assumed that we'd actually announce a date to them, and not gaming
press, and that even in the light of Scott's quote of 'We can't make
an official announcement.', the DBJ effectively did that."

"The release date is still 'when it's done'," he continued, "and will
be until the appropriate moment. Platforms have not been finalized or
announced. You can rest assured that we are moving toward a goal and
that the recently released teaser trailer is the start of that process
and seeing more of the game, sooner than later.""

Isn't it a bit early for April Fools jokes? Or did someone just figure
they couldn't wait another 8 weeks, and suckered a business journal with
this now?

Does it really matter when the next Duke Nukem game comes out?
Since Duke Nukem 3d came out there's been another Star Wars trilogy,
The Matrix trilogy, the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Spiderman
trilogy and all the games those 12 movies spawned.

There's been so many first person shooters that they're all starting
to look the same and everything that was ever interesting about Duke
3D has been done to the point of cliche.

Hell, they built the ISS in less time than this game has been in
development. It doesn't matter what kind of game they come up with,
after a decade in development it's doomed to be a disappointment.

Interpret; "...We may or may not release Duke Nukem sometime or not
....but remember its us that's not releasing it...."

Its so far gone its funny...Just occurred to me that the DUKE makes a good
marketing
tool for any games company that can claim some connection.
As any press release is sure to get them some general attention.

'They' should sell Duke to the Splinter Cell people & make a Sam v/s Duke
Beat-em-up sneak around in the dark compete for the charms of Lara Croft
Super-Mega Game thing on the WII.

Ten years ago I cared. Now, who cares if it never comes out?!? It was a
good game in its time, but so many others have came and gone, both good and
bad, that there is nothing that DN3 could add that would make me really care
that much. They blew it, it is a joke now.
