Garr fight in molten core

1 boss to tank, 8 adds to control and kill

Adds can be banished. We have 2 warlocks in raid, we are 32 people. We
need 7 tanks. We have to use 2 druids for that, so in the end we have 7
tanks and 8 healers.

The fight starts, one of the priests dies too quickly. Back to 7 tanks,
7 healers. After a bad tactical choice, I announce I take over the spot
of the missing priest and start healing two tanks at the same time. bad
choice indeed, one of the tanks dies.

I die. The other tank I was on dies. The MT priest healer dies.

At that point we had killed two adds (the one a resto druid called Moju
was tanking, and the one a feral druid called Gimlix was tanking),
banished two adds, we had two adds loose, and we had lost 2 tanks and 3
priests.

We got two battle resurrections: one on me, one on a fallen tank. I
healed that off tank, he went to one of the adds and grabbed it.
Another add was loose.

Gimlix morphed to bear and intercepted that loose add quickly. A
warrior went there too, waited till Gimlix was ready and taunted back
the add to him. Gimlix morphed back to caster and kept the warrior
alive.

Moju, after tanking the first add, replaced our fallen MT healer and
maintained some serious healing all fight long.

Then things got worse: Garr suddenly exploded that last loose add -
unfortunately both warlocks, the druid and the warrior tanking him
died... things were'nt looking all that well.

But one more battle resurrection on a warlock, and things get back to
normal, and Garr collapses... pfew!

Tactics are all good and well, but in the end, Druids win.

Hey, ain't that what I'm sayin' all the time?
A properly played druid is a force in everything with more than
3 players. The only thing that makes them really imba is the
free innervate (which was an absolutely unnecessary change which
only happened because most druids are so poorly played that they
can't justify a non-healer spec).

Sidenote: We did LBRS yesterday with 7 people (MT was 56, and
only 2 people were 60, though), and due to some very...
suboptimal pulling we often got 2 or even 3 times as much
mobs as we should have. We wiped a few times, but managed to
survive even more often, and the single reason why we did
were those 2 innervates and 2 emergency tanks we got with us.

A well-played character in a class absolutely and unquestionably
designed for maximum versatility being a deciding factor in what
otherwise would have been a wipe?

Say it ain't so!

Sorry to say that, but 6k armor are nothing for a druid (especially
not in MC). Our guilds tank (level 57) has 7.1k armor, plus parry,
, block, +defense, and 10% flat reduction (defensive stance) on top
of it.
I'd say 7.5k armor are require for a druid to tank stuff like Scholo
without being a mana sink.

Yep, I just figured when I hit "send" that you of course were wearing
your healer gear at that point, so you can pretty much ignore my
post Smile

He's the GM Smile And he respecced to protection around level 50.
But the armor value was with a mark of the wild, though.

True, and the problem is if you as a druid jump in to grab an add/boss
that went loose after the MT died the healers have to be real genious
to figure that out fast enough and start healing you - killed me a few
times at the corehound packs in MC too Smile

> WheeZ50 (topped 11k buffed)

Only 9.4k here and 5.1k HP unbuffed. I could've gotten higher but I
wanted to maintain ~370 defense which is IMHO a higher benefit for
non-raid instances (up to UBRS) than more health or armor.

Mainly by gimping myself with green "of defense" items, though :-/

Yep, it really is Smile
Actually, I don't play my drood anymore anyway. But my point was that
5k unbuffed HP is more than enough to tank everything outside of raid
instances (with PW:F it's almost 6k), so I'd rather got that defense
up a bit more.

In case you don't know: Medallion of Grand Marshall Morris for neck
and the naglering from BRD for the ring (I once had that damn naglering
before it's been buffed and thrown it away :-/). Combined with a warden
staff, a cloak of warding and maybe with the trinket from the BRD
emperor that alone should be 20-30 defense.
