In order to get this item:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Grizzled_Pelt
I have to kill a boss in the Sunken Temple, and in order for him to
spawn the altars have to be activated in a certain order. So I'm
wondering, at level 54 is this soloable?
I read that you can stealth to the altars and activate them, but will I
be close enough to mobs when I come out of stealth that I will aggro them?
Also, is the boss soloable at my level? The quest is labeled as 52, so I
assume he will be 52 as well.
Sure I can get a group together, and probably will try that first, but
the process of summoning the boss seems so involved that I can see this
instance run going drastically wrong very easily. I've already been to
SS once and it was so confusing to get around, and we didn't even mess
with the altars that time!
Thanks. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

I would not recommend doing it solo, no. I don't think it is soloable
by a single level 54 druid, but for fun you might try it to see how
goes. Let us know! >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

You can always do what I did (am doing right now). I have my quest to
go to ST and kill the 6 trolls around the upper ring and get an item
from each of them. The quest rewards are nice.... for a level 50
warlock at least, except for a trinket called Abyssal Chard, which
when used, summons your voidwalker with no mana or soul shard cost.
Being a warlock quest I want to complete it just because its a class
quest. But that trinket is usuable all the way through 70, and its
effectiveness doesn't diminish over level 60 as some trinkets have
been known to do.
I'm level 68 now, and at 70 I am considering going back to solo it.
Considering the mobs are all low 50's, I can probably just walk around
(carefully) at my own leisure and grab up the trolls I need killed.
I can't look at your item right now as I am at work, but my advice:
If its something you can use all the way through 70 and can still
forsee use for it at 70, and really want to solo it (or jsut don;t
want to PUG), wait till 70. If its something that will be replaced by
something better in Outland, or loses effectiveness over level 60,
find a group and get it, or don't do it at all. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

It's funny, when I was in my 20s there were a bunch of quests where I
was like "Hmm, this is too hard to solo" so I asked for a group and no
one ever responded, so I just said to hell with and I tried it myself,
and I soloed them all easily. Some were elite, some involved tons of
mobs, yet I did ok. Granted, this is much different, but you never know!
I might try it if I get desperate. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

It falls into that latter category:
Grizzled Pelt
Binds when picked up
Leather
Chest
151 Armor
+17 Strength
+16 Agility
+11 Stamina >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

I highly doubt you can solo that at your level. The trolls that stand
near the statues are to near them to activate the statues without
aggroing them, I'm almost sure of that. And activating those statues
summons a lvl 54 elite boss I believe, which would be difficult to
impossible to solo. However, many classes have their class quests in
that instance and a lot of quests end there as well (it's a pretty
good sized place), so asking around in the LFG channel should net you
a group, eventually. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

When I was doing this quest (pre-TBC) I read some interesting advice, and
I'll pass it on to you, though I'm not sure if its still valid.
Think carefully about your future speccing plans and carefully consider the
other chestpiece, if you may go resto/healbot. The other chest, with
something like +50 healing is (was but not sure if it still is post TBC) one
of the highest +healing chestpieces you can get without some serious
raiding.
Something to ponder. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

Really not sure at what level you might solo this quest, but a couple of
pieces of advice if you are trying.
First, the boss will spawn in the pool at the lowest level of the instance.
There are a few pairs/trios of mobs in the pool that wander about and
invariably add themselves onto a long solo boss fight. It is somewhat
difficult to pull them without pulling the boss if you've already spawned
him, so think about clearing the pool before going up and spawning the boss.
Second, this boss has a special "punt" attack, which boosts you up far
enough into the air to take substantial damage on landing. There are a
couple of ways to avoid this. If you pull the fight back into one of the
little archways that surround the pool, you simply don't fly into the air,
so don't take the landing damage. Another possibility (for a feral druid)
is to use feral charge. The punt will top out well beyond feral charge's
range, so you have to wait until you fall back into range, but as long as
you charge before you hit the ground you shouldn't take any of the impact
damage from falling.
Good Luck! >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

Cool trick! A similar thing happened with Gahzrilla, but I was in cat
form so I didn't take any falling damage. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

That little tidbit about avoiding/working around the punt attack is a
good one as well. Although I'm not sure if you can use Feral Charge
while IN combat. Worth a try though. >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |

Well, what a nice change of pace! As soon as I logged on someone I've
done a couple of instances with recently asked if I wanted to do
Maraudon again, and I said that I needed to do ST instead for a druid
quest, so he changed his plans and got a group together to help me out!
And from others sharing quests, I actually got 3 other things done in ST.
Plus, it helped that he knew exactly what he was doing. We went very
fast and efficiently through everything without any problems. We cleared
most of the floors first, then summoned the boss I needed, then moved on
to the dragons and Jammalan.
Of course, we finally wiped about 4 times on the sleeping dragon,
because everyone but me was probably too low level. That stupid sleep
spell didn't help either.
But it was quite a nice run, although I still didn't get back to my
normal questing until about 4 hours later! >> Stay informed about: Druid quest: A Better Ingredient |
