Oh man, I've done the event at least a dozen times and never looked
up. What have I missed? There's the normal "arcane vortex" swirling
over where Immolthar stands but does the event put something else up
there?

Alliance paladin mount quest ends in DM. Horde paladin mount quest
ends in strat. Not sure which side you are, but I'm sure you've
mentioned it before and I failed to remember.

It's the vortex I'm talking about. I think it changes color during the
event too. *

hmmmm. I've helped several paladins get their mount and if i remember
correctly and I do we did it in scholo. Maybe it ends somewhere else
before scholo but scholo is where they get their mount and i'm
speaking of alliance.

I believe Doomguards (well, the ones that get summoned, anyway) are
one of the few mobs with significant shadow resistance as well, so CoS
helps but isn't quite as effective as it would be on mobs out in the
world. When enslaving Outland demons I've rarely had one break; they
are more likely to freeze up on you than anything else since you'll be
able to keep them long enough to drag them away from their spawn
point.

Now that I think about it, I think you're right. I do know alliance
have to go there and kill the first large tree boss for their paladin
mount, but horde don't have to go there.

56 alliance, 21 horde. Wink (I'm going for my lowbie hammer quest this
weekend, running all the lowbie horde instances.)

Ah, on our way to the dreadsteed, we passed a ghostly-looking horse there
and others in the party explained that it was for the paladin quest.

The bad thing about this quest is that you can't do it *twice*. But you can
still help other locks, and that's almost as fun. Wink

For ordinary epic mounts, the mount says that the rider is good at amassing
wealth, but possibly solo. He may just be a good farmer.

A dreadsteed rider is someone who amasses *loyalty* from his guildies and
others, those who helped assemble the mats and accompanied him through the
instances. Unless the account was purchased, a dreadsteed rider is very
unlikely to be a ninja or other scum you don't want around.
