I used to enjoy playing the above on the PS1, I can't find a modern day
alternative of either, what else is out there?

Around 40% of current games are first person shooters. If you want something
like the older games, you're pretty much going to have to play the older
games.

The closest modern alternatives to Doom are the Serious Sam games, IMO.
