Post subject: Discarding: the traditional mixed-up manner, or the neat and in sequence way?
Archived from groups: rec>games>mahjong (more info?)

When reviewing the IMJ Rules, I come to a question in the review list:
whether discarded pais (tiles) should be placed in a *disorder* manner as in
the traditional way, or be placed in an *orderly* manner as required in
CMCR.

My opinion is that the disorder manner shall remain, mainly because this is
a traditional practice of mahjong. Besides, placing discarded pais in a
disorder manner may have an advantage in maintaining its playability and
practising the memorizing ability of players.

Wonder how others think, especially those who have experience in open
tournaments.

I prefer the neat in a sequence way, Traditional mixed up looks very
messy. If you want a game which requires memory of play, try Bridge.

Anyone could summarize what are the advantages and disadvantages of the two?
As well as to whom those advantages are provided?
