Direct Draw

I have a sony vio which came preloaded with AOE 2 AOK. It
worked perfect for a few months than all of a sudden it
would not let me load the game. We reinstalled it and
since than everytime i try to open the game it gives me
an error " Could not initalize graphics system. Make
sure that your video card and driver are compatable with
Direct Draw " I tried various trouble shooting like
checking for new drivers / disable directx / hardware
exceleration but nothing seems to be working. Why would
this occur out of the blue and what can i try to correct
the problem. Oh and i also did a system recovery to try
to correct the problem but it did not fix it.

Two things. First, visit the Windows Update site;
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and upgrade everything. Then visit the
Sony VAIO website and upgrade the drivers for your model;
