So long as you can get all the stuff you need to do an installation from
whole cloth on a new PC without an internet connection, then you're all
set.
I just bought BIRTH OF AMERICA, and those guys are another solid check
in the "Doing Downloads Right" column. Paid my money, downloaded my
file, read my unlock code off the web, and was up and running in just a
few minutes - with a saved copy of the file and unlock code safely in my
backups.
Oh. One more thing. I quickly found out that my laptop wasn't quite
beefy enough to run BIRTH OF AMERICA in the style to which I'm
accustomed[1]. So I had to reinstall the game/code on my desktop PC,
and I'm much happier with the game on a more powerful machine.
In other words, *ten minutes* after downloading and installing this
game, I was reinstalling it. Had it featured some Byzantine
"activation" scheme, I'd have been screwed, and would have spent the
afternoon explaining to some Hindu that I'm not a crook.
[1] Time for a new laptop, I guess, but that's not a question for
today...
