Devastate Weapon Choice?

Since Devastate does half wep damage + sunders etc., it seems to make more sense to have a slow wep with hi-damage in your hand than
a fast wep with small damage. I ask because I love fast daggers, but I also love devastate.

DPS is a combo of wep speed and damage. But the devastate description seems like it indicates it only uses wep damage in its 50%
calc, and devastate is instant, so DPS and wep speed do not matter, only damage.

This is pretty common with melee abilities. Not familiar with
the specific ability, but the description you quote would indeed
imply that raw damage is what matters rather than DPS.

Same deal for Retribution pallies (more my area), better to have
a slower weapon with higher top-end damage than slightly-more DPS
in a faster weapon as Seal/Judgement of Command and Crusader Strike
are both based on weapon damage not DPS.
