Post subject: Deus Vult - Forum game

Good day, everyone.

I represent an off-site forum game called Deus Vult. As one may discern from the title, it is set in medieval Europe, during the age of the crusades (actually, they haven't begun yet in-game, but all is possible). Although it is a strategy game, we do encourage all our players to role-play to the best of their ability to create a vibrant and living game environment.

Each player represents a powerful figure in the political and religious climate in Europe, anno 1070 (that is the in-game year at the moment). Of course, the most common figures are the kings and emperors of Christendom, although the possibilites are not limited to these: the Doge of Venice, the Grand prince of Kievan Rus', the Almoravid caliph in islamic Spain, the Pope himself in Rome, The Orthodox patriarch in Constantinople, dukes and cardinals and bishops and counts and perhaps even barbarian khans in the northern steppes of Asia? Whatever you choose, you are certain to live in interesting times!

As a player, you interact with the other players through diplomatic envoys in our Diplomacy forum, or in our Actions forum, where words become deeds. Everything from building cathedrals to invading neighbors, converting pagans or promoting science (watch out for the Inquisition!), the choice is yours. The system is a fairly open one where the outcome of things can always be discussed with admins. The purpose for this is to encourage people to be creative, and to promote roleplaying; the last thing we want is Deus Vult to decline into a game of Risk. The outcome of battles are determined primarily by the roll of dice, but making intricate use of strategy and planning is encouraged and rewarded.

The game progresses in turns; one IRL week is one game turn, which represents five years in-game. We had a slight activity drop last week, as the creator and main admin of the game became too busy to play, so there are plenty of open spots for playing. What we need most of all, though, are players the Christian kingdoms of the Iberian peninsula (León, Castille, Aragon, Navarre), a Pope, and a Byzantine Patriarch. A complete list of the playable nations can be found on our forum, under "Realms":

As this is an off-site advertisement, it might not be all appreciated. I could not find anything against this on the forum rules, though, and I hope you realise by what I've written so far, that my intents are only to promote what could become a really good game and nothing else. I hope this have attracted some interests, and see you on the war-torn fields of medieval Europe! Pax Vobiscum!
