Well it must have been... somewhere else then. Dallas? I'm sure Texas
is just lovely Allan, I mean, you wouldn't live there if it wasn't,
right? Beri-Beri? Does that still exist? Didn't they wipe that out,

You can never be too careful. I'll let you into a secret re this

take out the "nospam for me" or is the "123" a ringer too?

I grew up in Dallas and it is no desert. Hot as Hell in the summer but
plenty of vegetation and hardwoods.

Beri-Beri? Does that still exist? Didn't they wipe that out,

Yes. It is supposed to be in a suburb near Dallas.
> W-I-N Peggy Hill! I love that. Do you sell propane on the side Allan?

No but I burn it in my gas grill when we cook hamburgers and hot dogs. I shy
away from selling petroleum products. Just look at the Hill's neighbors and
you see why Smile I really like the show and even though it is filled with
stereotypes, there is some truth in it which makes it all the more
humourous.

Yes, all the time. Where do you think I get these myths?

I love secrets. Yes the nospam for me and 123 are bogus. Now tell me, tell
me!

Yes, yes, thanks, I saw that, Allan. Very witty indeed. However, Foamy
Jim was asking about someone called "Alan", not "Allan". Contrary to what
you may have been lead to believe, not all correspondence on Usenet is
about you. I think it must be a Texas thing.

Okay, to be honest I didn't realize you were posting under a new handle.
Sorry about that.

Oh, I certainly hope so. I'm planning on buying it.

Does anybody?

Seriously, did you try to read "Patriot Games"? I didn't know whether to
laugh or throw the book at random passers-by.

Clancy's insight into the British psyche is, well, I think "astonishing"
just about covers it. My favorite bit was when the Prince Charles
character breaks down and weeps in front of a complete stranger because he
wasn't manly enough to take a bullet to protect his family. Good thing
that highly-trained,
ruggedly-handsome-yet-sound-of-ideals-even-when-on-vacation Merkan Marine
was on hand to save the day! USA! USA! USA! HOOOO-Waaaaa!!1!

Actually, Clancy give me hives.

Guess what Texas city I lived in. Here's the clues.

1. I wore a string tie to school every day and would say "y'all". (Okay
that's not a great clue but I want to try to make it interesting to other
people playing as well.)

2. Every Halloween about 10,000 kids would come trick or treating to our
house.

3. Cockroaches were sometimes big enough to open the door of the fridge by
themselves or to carry off small children.

4. Dust storms would sometimes make it dangerous to drive and the next day
you might find a pile of tumbleweeds against the side of your house that
touched the roof.

5. It was the best Texas city to be in because you had the least amount of
driving to go to get to the Golden State.

Uh, El Paso. You know, where the wicked Felina would whirl.

Detroit. Definitely Detroit. No, wait -- I think Detroit's in Kentucky.
Galveston?

Cockroaches? Why didn't you say so in the first place. That's San
Antonio.

I've got news for you, Bill -- you were actually living in New Mexico.

Ah, you just gave it away: you lived less than 10 minutes away from
Dallas-Ft. Worth.

He visits web forums but seems to be relatively well behaved. It is very
rare now when the The Fraud claims his bogus degrees on-line so I have
apparently successfully helped him to reduce the frequency of his fraudulent
claims. Although I don't think he ever has said thank you to me. Sad
Universal Combat seems to be doing fairly decent based on the number of
places that I've seen it. The other day I even saw a stack of UC for $20
bucks each next to a stack of BCM Gold for $30 each. That one cracked me up.

I personally don't miss The Fraud much. There's plenty of academic frauds
coming over to DegreeInfo trying to find victims. More states are passing
laws making bogus credentials like Derek's illegal. So hopefully in a dozen
years or so we'll start running out of academic frauds.

Thanks Bill. I didn't even know about Universal Combat, which I imagine
is BC V ? Smile

The reason I asked about him, is my curiosity was aroused when I read a
blurb somewhere which mentioned in passing something about a legal
fight he has / had ? with Dreamcatcher. Always enjoyed reading his
pontificating and bluster as he was being handed his ass on a plate.

Oh hell..it ain't as bad as all of that. Derek has lightened up over
the years and he's not quite so prone to fly off the handle as he once
was (though it does still happen pretty frequently). It's not as bad
as the X2 forums. those guys are mean.

What's your review on UC anyway? If you are still having those
intermediant (sp?) CTDs, I can tell you how to fix it where UC won't
ever crash, but I ain't gonna do it here because Bill and Bret might
get mad at me for not telling them first. =P

UC is pretty good online as well, though it still has a few quirks in
it.. You can still kick-ass BC style.

....and Black Sabbath is STILL the best band to play in a BC game:

"Goin' home, late last night.
Suddenly I got a fright.
Yeah, I looked through a window and surprise what I saw.
Fairies with boots and dancin' with a dwarf. Oh...right now!

Yeah, Fairies wear boots and ya gotta believe me.
Yeah, I saw it, I saw it, I tell ya no lie.
Yeah, Fairies wear boots and ya gotta believe me.
I saw it, I saw it, with my own two eyes. Oh, right now!

Yeah, Fairies wear boots and ya gotta believe me.
Yeah, I saw it, I saw it, I tell ya no lie.
Yeah, Fairies wear boots and ya gotta believe me.
I saw it, I saw it, with my own two eyes. Oh, right now!

So I went to the doctor, see what he could give me.
He said 'Son, son, you've gone to far... 'cause smokin' and trippin'
is all that you do. The air...'"

People avoid him. They know the street's his home
