For those interested in seeing/making connections between the two
gamelines:
What are some good ways that they might be connected? The one I've
always had was that, while the Primordials created the universe, they
left all the actual "grunt work" to lesser creatures.
At some point before The Primordial War, there was another, unrecorded,
war, between the Primordials and their rebellious lesser kin, that
ended the only way it could: The minor Primordials were defeated and
bound away in an Abyss (Elsewhere?). Perhaps the nascent gods watched
and took notes...
The Abyss dwellers stayed there for untold millenia and the passing of
the Ages, until the Primordial's handiwork wore thin enough that it
could be shattered by the various traumas that the dawning Sixth Age
brought as birthing pains...
Freed, but driven nearly mad eons of unending Torment, they found
surcease and stability by joining with weak-souled mortals...and they
also found themselves caught in the cultural mesh of the human's belief
systems, such that they reinterpreted their origins through the lens of
religious faith. Which was much more comforting than the actual truth,
which they have pushed far, far away from themselves, as being too much
to handle...
Well, that's one possible way to do it, and it doesn't answer all the
questions. Any other ideas?

Sure. The creation of the universe happened in much the way that it was
portrayed in Demon: the Fallen with two important expansions.
The first is the knowledge that the great cataclysm that rocked the world
was caused by the all powerful Creator battling against an all powerful
opponent from beyond the reality that the angels could comprehend. The
Creator foresaw this battle and that is why (at least according to the Time
of Judgment fiction bits starring Lucifer) he ordered Lucifer to take as
much of the angelic host to the mortal plane as possible and why the rest of
the host were sent to confront the rebels. The Creator wanted them to be
safe from a battle that would have destroyed them all but which they would
have felt compelled to join out of their love for the Creator.
The second is the fact that the Creator hid a faint echo of his essence in
every human so that it would be the belief of humans that kept the world
intact rather than the Creator's power.
After the war was over the remaining angels made a misguided attempt to
restore the status quo to the point it was at before the rebellion by
erasing the events from the mind's of humanity in one great burst of effort.
Without human belief holding it together the world began to unravel. The
horrified angels aborted their grand spell in time for the few vestiges of
memory left to humanity to stabilize the world in the funhouse mirror realm
of the Exalted. Much, much later (after the time of the Exalted campaign
setting) war in the world of Exalted (perhaps involving an Alchemical
invasion?) destroys enough of the population through the use of Weapons of
Magical Destruction that the world begins to unshape again.
The angels, seeing their chance to put things right, try to reweave the
world's tapestry to more closely resemble it's original form. After this
great metaphysical flood ends the chunks of world are put back together by
proto-Void Engineers.
