What exactly does "delve" mean in relation to spells and styles?

If you select a style, weapon, or spell (ie right click) then shift + I then
another small window pops up with extra information such as DPS damage per
second, spell power cost etc. Bonus to int, str, dex etc.

Delve refers specifically to looking deeper into something. In this
case you look deeper at the item/style/spell and learn more about what
it is or is capable of.

While I think it is possible to re-key the command, the default keyboard
command is to right click, then hit 'i' no shift or any other key.

delve only means that you put an item in the chat box to display the details
of it, it does not apply to spells and such, only weapons and armor and such
that are in your inventory backup

That explains why nothing has happened whenever I tried it! Everything I
have read suggest right-clicking and shift-I. Will attempt it without
the shift.

How odd. It has always been shift-i for me.

Umm, no. Delving is for anything that pops up a little window when you
right click on it.
