No. However, the game checks applicable totals of both ranged and
lethal and applies whichever number is higher. (When something says
defense to "All" that usually means type-based *and* range-based.)
Which means that ranged/melee/AoE defense is generally the most useful
against Psychic and Toxic damage--damage classes that generally aren't
defended against.
