Hi,

I've poked around this idea for awhile and the bizarre discipline
spreads one could achieve with the Great Beastie. In this case I am
exploring the idea of making the Beatie into a complete combat
montrousity.

The idea is to pull out the Beatie with POT PRO THN and go to town.

Only issue is actually putting the deck together Smile or has someone
else already gone down this road and made a deck?

Ideas, thoughts, suggestions, debate.

Go WIld!!!!! Wink

I'm not sure if OBF gives anything valuable to the GB unless you want
to S&B with it. FOR is almost a must (for Freaks and prevention) POT is
neat and goes well with Huitzi but the third discipline is up to you.
Of course you could always make Beast a FOR/POT/THN monster and include
some Samedi support but I doubt whether it would be a very good deck.
But FOR/POT/THN Beast sounds like a combat monster nonetheless Smile

Still managed 3GW and 11VP in total on the day, so not tooooo shabby for

The general problem i encountered when playing Beast decks in the past is that itīs quite bad if the Beast and the vampires donīt have discplines in common AND if you donīt have enough stealth to get the Beast.

So usually you have to play with OBF (the only stealth option for Baali) and therefore it seems better to me to give the Beast OBF as well ...

At least POT mixes well with Huitzilopochtli so I would go for OBF/POT and something else probably FOR or PRO or OBE ...

<SNIP>

This deck worked very well for me in JOL, I got a relatively quick VP
and wound up with 2VP total. Unfortunately my third prey was a Gehenna
deck and by the time I got to him the Great Beast was a 5-6 cap and I
ran out of cards (due to NuN and the focus on combat cards in the deck)
I think I brought out another Huitzi, but he immediately lost 4 blood.

Well you can enter combat with the minion you like and not some stupid 2cap for example.
Mask of the 1000 Faces can be neat too. Some little minion bleeds, if he gets blocked Beast jumps in.
Or Hidden Lurker.
The point is: with POT/FOR and 4 hand damage + permarush the minion IS allready a combat monster, no need for THN.

Try For-Vis-Aus. It goes something like this:

Crypt: (12 cards)
5 Huitzilopochtli AUS DAI DOM OBF PRE POT 10, Baali
+ some random vamps with close dis-spread (Matthias, Corine, Silvia
etc.)

Library: (90 cards)
Master (14 cards)
2 Direct Intervention
2 Dreams of the Sphinx
5 Minion Tap
5 Fortitude (or maybe Vicissitude?)

Action (12 cards)
6 Call the Great Beast
4 Renewed Vigor
2 Spirit Marionette

Action Modifier (16 cards)
8 Freak Drive
6 Lost in Crowds
2 Repulsion

Reaction (11 cards)
6 Forced Awakening
5 Telepathic Misdirection

Combat (36 cards)
8 Anesthetic Touch
2 Breath of the Dragon
6 Chiropteran Marauder
4 Inner Essence
6 Telepathic Tracking
4 Taste of Vitae
6 Vitae Block

Retainer (1 cards)
1 Mr. Winthrop

I forgot, I played a version using FOR and Daring the Dawn to get the
Call through. It worked better.

I made a deck like this a long time ago, and as you can imagine, 4 agg
that cant be dodged and cant be prevented is pretty insane.. Very Happy

Unlike the ones replying below I did it with Harrod and Clan imp, since
he can use the pot and the outferior on thn, and it worked well. You
might try it with Stanislava instead, depending on whether your lies on
POT or PRO.

Try it, its funny.

I have made a trophy hunter deck based on the samedi getting protean. 3
card combat = one dead minion was pretty efficient in my eyes. The best
part about it is that if your opponent does dodge or S:CE at least you
only waste one of the cards of your combo. I did consider the great
beastie and making a turbo baron / call deck but at the time I had no
where near enough freak drives and only one soul gem. As to how it
went, it made a decent "wall" style deck and killed practicaly every
minion that got in its way. It took one table in the hands of a better
player than I, but for the most part it only ever got 1 VP per game.

Thanatosis is for withering, protean is for claws. If succesful it will
bin most vamps not packing pre-strike damage prevention (typhonic
beast, armor of cains fury, card text etc) Using the beast makes this
even more brutal insofar as requiring a sizable chunk of pre-range
damage prevention to stop simply due to his strength. Thanatosis also
offers some pretty wierd support cards which are fun to use. (imbued
with potence is fun)

I think the discipline spread has the potential for some really, really
nasty combat.

Potence gives you access to Immortal Grapple and bigger strikes, plus
Earthshock for the big cowards who flee from the Great Beastie Smile

Protean also gives you access to stealth, manuvers, presses and Flesh
of the Marble.
