If you want to get it or not, is up to you. It's a resouce book, and
the sole one for DA:M.
If you allow large numbers of consecutive stat boosts, you deserve the
lameness that will develop. In M:tAw, they have severely limited this
scaling process in two manners. First is that you have to be Disciple
(R3) level in either Life (for Physical Attributes) or Mind (for Mental
and Social Attributes) to gain any sort of bonus at all. This bonus is
further limited by your current Rank in that Arcana. At Adept (R4)
level, you can cast a single spell that can add successes to multiple
attributes, which helps with the second limitation, Spell Tollerance.
Spell Tollerance begins to apply penalties to spellcasting once the
number of spells on your character (both benign and malign) exceeds
your Stamina.
What this means, is that players must choose between common spells,
such as Sight, Shielding, and buff spells, because trying to carry
large numbers of them all around with you just makes it nearly
impossible to use magic, which incidentaly solves your multple-buff
dilemma.
If I were you, I'd be using these new rules, even in DA:M. Makes life
more challenging. And more stable.
