Just bought a new 24" 2.8GHz Extreme iMac - my first Intel Mac I can
also use as a gaming machine. Anyone tried D2 on this? How will it run
when my iMac arrives?

I am also waiting my new MBP and want to know if it is possible to
play LOD without the play CD in Mac (in PC I use Daemon-Tools and CD
image)?

Sorry Jamie for popping in to your thread without answer to your
question, but I thought you might want to know also if this is
possible.

Hi Jamie,

I've been playing on a 24" 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with the
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT graphics for several months now. It's great
most of the time, but I do get the occasional hang. That might be
solved by the recent Apple firmware update for iMacs like mine (don't
know - haven't tried it yet).

I didn't have any luck when I tried to use hardware acceleration when
setting up the game the first time. I've been using software rendering
which is still plenty fast (170+ frame rates) - yours should be even
faster.

Best of luck,

Bruce

No, no - not at all Smile While I bought an external optical drive some
time ago so I could keep a game disc inserted all the time, I would
rather not have the hum of it spinning all the time. Any game that I can
easily run using a disc image, I do.

Thanks Bruce, that's good to know. As for the occasional hang - I've
always had that with D2 and am used to it. I'm _very_ used to hitting
command-option-escape when playing lots of quick games one after the
other Very Happy

Regards,
Jamie Kahn Genet, who wonders what the hell he'll do with a sudden
extra hundred frames! Wink

P.S. I dunno about you guys, but I'll be getting any and every Blizzard
game that will run on this Mac and playing the hell out of them from now
through Christmas! Even Starcraft on a 24" screen Very Happy

My 20" iMac is now an 'old' machine, lol,

I guess you'd put the CD in as the device to convert.

My Lord of Destruction.dmg (Disk Image) file <549.5 MB>
has a creation date of March 6, 2006.

As a tip: when you 'mount' the .dmg file
you can 'skip' the "verify" step.

My .dmg file opens as a 496.8 MB 'Volume' on the desktop
<Get Info says: Created May 1 2001; Modified May 23, 2001>

Remember. You can use Blizzard's OS X loader, but
You'll need your D2 "Install" disk as well as LOD & both keys.

Enjoy the Upgrade !

Oh my... Tried to install with the OS X loader but my Mac just spit
out the install disk. On the CD label it says 95/98. No word about
Mac... LOD CD has mac on the supported OS list. Do I need mac version
of D2 Classic disks? Anyone succeeded with installing with PC disks to
Mac? I guess my D2 days are over if I need to buy new disks, they are
almost impossible to find here and even if I find them with my luck
they won't have Mac support anyway.
