Well, Caliente Sam finally got assigned a string of missions in
Croatoa. Cool.

I know the main players, the red caps, the pumpkin-dudes, ghosts, the
were-deer, and the witches... (not their correct names, I'm a lousy
speller and I am writing this at work where I don't have access to the
game websites).

This should be a great mini-series of adventures since he is magic
based, he should be getting some sweet drops from the targets
(glittershrooms?). The were-deer seem to be the toughest so far, and
a boss I fought seems to have a lot of earth-based controller powers
(summon rock dude, make the ground bubble and slow you down).
[BTW, the last one was a surprise for Sam; he never gets held or
slowed, and this was doing a number on him. Thankfully he has burn and
also some break free inspires]

I understand that there is a couple large wandering monsters (Jack of
Irons?, Giant Pumpkinhead, Loch Ness Monster) around, and like the
wandering monsters in IP and Perez, its not someone you want to fight
solo, but hopefully I'll bump into them to snap some nice screenshots
or in a pickup team.)

Any hints or tips for this zone? Since its Halloween 24/7 in this
zone, anything extra-ordinary going on in the zone for the Halloween
event?

They are a bitch at times - they can also drop you out of fly (and lock
you out of it for a bit) with their root throw.

Sally (the loch ness critter) is easily soloable - kill her twice for a
badge.

The only real thing to look out for is watching your aggro since there
are sometime multiple packs of baddies around and you don't want to get
caught in a crossfire.
The various groups do NOT like each other and there are some that move
around quite a bit.

No idea if anything happens there at Halloween since the only Halloween
event I was in was the first one and that was long before the Croatoa
zone existed.

in the 2nd 1/2 of the story arc (you need to be lvl30 to run them) the
red-caps become much more of a menace, the Fiends (the big ones) like
to throw little guys that are loaded down w/ TNT and they grab ahold
of your head...and then everyone dissappears....cause he's blocking
your vision but it's ok, you get it back when he blows up delivering
some massive damage. The thing w/ red caps is that they tend to swarm
you and more alwasy seem to pop up out of the ground so there is never
such a thing as clearing a outdoor mish.

the loch Ness monster is easy to defeat as it goes down with only one
hit so even if all you have is your apprentice charm from the
beginning, that will be enough to defeat him. The problem is that
it's rarely ever out anymore. Several issues ago she'd be out all the
time but then they tweaked the spawn rate and I haven't seem her in
ages. The other 2 GM's (Jack in irons and Echoi are around more
often and do take a full team or more to take down. The best is when
they are fighting each other up North by the broken teeth, so you have
to focus on one first and then the other. Personally I find Echoi
easier to fight then Jack as Jack has lots of debuffs and has a wicked
regen rate.

You will received several temp powers in the various story arcs, most
of them are on timers so use them often, the rune of warding does some
great damage to the mystical creatures and the Iron Sword has + damage
against fey creatures (red caps/fir blog) but does decent damage
against all enemies. The only one worth saving for later use is the
bow and arrow. If you are a melee type it will give you a passable
pull/snipe power.

Since its Halloween 24/7 in this zone, anything extra-ordinary going
on in the zone for the Halloween event?

Suprisingly not much changes in this zone for the event, you can trick-
or-treat the doors in the zone and the contact for the 5th costume
slot is by the train station, but nothing more than you'd find in any
of the other zones. trick-or-treating doors tend to be zone specific,
so you can t-o-t in a higher lvl than you zone but not so much in a
lower lvl zone.

Just a FYI...the rune of Warding and Iron Sword both have a +Damage
against mystical/fey creatures but not the ones coming out of the
Trick-or-Treat doors. They do just their regular damage, the toon I
was on did not have the ghost slaying ax so I don't know if that still
kept it's +Dam vs ghosts or not.

The vampires aren't "real" undead, so Ax seems to do no extra damage,
but the holy shotgun shells do seem to lay the smack down.

With all the costume stuff on the market it seems like prices for
costume parts have dropped. Jade Chan (martial arts scrapper / regen)
sold a defense IO invention for 1.8 mil and was able to buy fairy and
dragconic wings, and boot jets, and still have plenty of funds left to
buy Jade Chan a bonesnap set for her crane kick. So Spectrum and a
couple other alts get the costume pieces they needed.

Costume bits have been low for a while - at least a month now.

I guess it finally reached saturation so there was no longer any
perceived rarity to support the rather steep prices.

Most of them seem to be under 100k now, with rocket boots and tech wings
the only ones on Victory that are still highish.

A far cry from when Scarlet Scimitar got fairy wings and sold them for
21 million.

It's nice since my concept alts can now actually afford to buy a set of
wings relatively early on just what they've earned themselves selling
salvage.
