Croft Manor: The Gym

I'm having major frustration reaching the silver reward above the door
in the gymnasium. I've reached all the other rewards and have no
trouble getting to the swinging platform needed to reach this silver
reward but every time I grapple to swing the platform I can't seem to
get Lara to jump in the desired direction. When the grapple is out
the camera angle gets a mind of its own & when I try to jump forward
Lara turns 90 degrees left or right & winds up on the rod under the
alcove with the reward. I've tried initiating this jump from various
places along the edge of the platform but haven't found anything that
works.
Am I missing something basic here? Thanks

BTW: I'm running the PC version on XP without Next Gen & the only way
I've been able to minimize stutter & freeze is to Alt-Tab back to the
desktop & then use Task Manager to set tlr.exe's priority to Normal or
Below Normal. (In my instalation it defaulted to High)

I had the same problem,too.
First the usual SPOILERSPACE.......
SPOLERSPACESPOILERSPACE

I got it so:
1:stand on that platform
2:walk to the CENTER of the platform
3:throw the grapple
4:pull the platform as near as possible to the ledge
5:when you feel ready run forward to the edge and...
6JUMP!
you´ve got to land on the platform because if you have to grab Coft
will grab the pole.

I maybe just got lucky but thats the only thing that worked for me.
