| I'm thinking the baton,using Shortsword skill. Possibly a -1 to hit
with the blade edge doing normal damage, or -1 to damage if hitting
with the flat of the blade. Probably a less-effective thrust than a
normal baton.

More likely Club/Axe or if you have to go with bladed Broadsword, 38 in
handle to Base, Bats typically weigh from 2 lb 8 oz to 3 lb.
If it was DK Lillie's aluminium bat would be more likely be a mace

a baseball bat is used two-handed in the sport, but I've seen it swung
as s weapon with one hand.

I've never actually seen anyone play cricket, but I understand the
batters use a two-handed grip on the bat. Can you do that with
Shortsword?

I dimly recall pictures from anthropology books, in which the pre-
modern pacific islanders made
non-metal armour and weapons. The wooden sword looks very, very much
like a cricket bat.
I'm calling it a sword. Not very sharp. A bit heavy, soft and bulkey,
but a sword.
Now, this is almost off topic, but the Aztec sword is also made
without metal, but with
the stone bits, it is dramatically sharper than the steel ones. A
jaguar knight once took
the head of a horse clean off in one stroke. I doubt even an axe could
do that.
