Argh!
This was a nasty death. The first character ever that could use the
crystal spear. The theme of the game was this time "don't give the
player any useful resistances". So I was getting short of safe areas.
After noticing that amulet of clarity actually works in my own mephitic
cloud, I thought I could try the swamp (I had already done lair and
orcish mines). I had tried the hive, too, but I had not yet found the
detect traps spell and there was a Zot trap so I retreated. Propably
best items I had found were an early staff of conjuration and an amulet
of gourmand. The latter is a hugely useful item for a Vehumite
conjurer! Unluckily, amulet of gourmand and lack of poison resistance
killed me. I was eating a corpse in the swamp when a red wasp came out
of nowhere, paralyzed me and that was it. Damn. This is the furthest
I've gone with a conjurer. I find that even with the amazing firepower
they posess, the low HP (and AC) make them quite difficult to play. The
game progresses very very easily and smoothly, but when things go wrong
they go wrong much faster than with a fighter. Well, here's the dump:
