You certainly are. You've done extremely well given it's your first
ever MMORPG. Quick learner too, was a real pleasure to help you out a
bit last night.

You do have the manual Sean. In fact you have both the original DAoC
manual and the Catacombs manual. They are in PDF format in the DAoC
directory. DAOC.pdf and Catacombs.pdf.

Granted it's a long print job if you want to read 'em in the bath but
they are there and will suffice until the Prima Epic edition guide
book is released in November if you decide to buy it.

>Even with these two simple things, it makes the game so much less
>frustrating.

You are getting there. Once you've sussed out how your character
works, done some reading and grouped a bit you will really start to
have fun. Then when you hit Killaloe, and especially Thidranki and
experience some active RvR you will start to have big time fun.

Two things I would stress.

Firstly get into a guild. This will help you immensely, enable you to
group easily and get you into the social side of the game. Even if you
chose a guild that you feel isn't right for you or you don't care for
the folks then you can just quit that guild and look for another.
Being in a good guild will make the game so much more fun and make you
a good player far more quickly.

Secondly, you are on Ector. Remember Ector is by far the lowest
population classic server and as you are in the UK like me you may
find that Ector isn't busy enough during typical UK play hours,
whereas Gareth most certainly is busy enough and Lamorak far busier
than Ector. This may change if Ector picks up, but if not you may find
you need to switch server. What guild you get into will also be a
factor here. Ector may be fine if you get into a guild with quite a
lot of European based players. It's something to consider though.

Thanks, it certainly makes it easier when there are so many people
willing to help out a newbie.

Excellent! Didn't think to look for a PDF.

I can transfer them to my work PC and read them here whenever it gets
quiet.

Actually I did get invited to join a guild last night, Retribution I
think it was called. Unfortunately, the guy started chatting to me just
as I was about to pack up for the night (around 1.00am, another quick
half-hour that got out of hand, seems to happen quite a lot with this
game Smile ) I'm going to investigate more tonight.

As you know Modern Celt also invited me to join his guild, but
unfortunately I haven't seen him or any of his guild members online when
I've been on. Spoilt for choice now Smile

Now I've got some sort of idea what I'm doing, I'll probably start
another couple of characters (maybe not so ugly this time Wink ), one on
Gareth and one on Lamorak, then I'll have toons(?) in all three realms.

A man after my own heart. Why do something in your own time when you
can do it in the firms Smile.

>As you know Modern Celt also invited me to join his guild, but

I'm sure ModernCelt's guild,Atra Manus, would be a fine choice. He
said here that he hasn't been on much recently. Maybe you'll hook up
with them this week. If not take the other offer as you can always
leave if it is not to your taste. You will soon know how friendly they
are and how prepared they are to aid their newbies.

>Now I've got some sort of idea what I'm doing, I'll probably start

It's not your fault. All Albs are ugly Wink.

Remember I'm on Hibernia/Gareth and Midgard/Lamorak.

If you play Hibernia on Gareth I can gve you *lots* of help and hook
you up in one of the best dedicated RvR guilds on the server once you
hit 30. Also if you start Midgard/Lamorak my characters there are
babies too as yet, so we will be in grouping range right away.

How did you find Xfire by the way? Interesting?

It could be Magnus. I play late evening UK time usually just in time
for the US kiddies coming out if school so that may explain a lot. And
I don't play often enough to run in a good team so it's all PUGs for
me if I want to group.

Are you saying that the UK servers are rude and unfriendly? I just
broke down and bought the UK version. I also have UK CoV on order.
maybe I should cancel and order the US CoV? What do you reckon?

Haven't tried it as yet, didn't get any PC time until around 11.30 last
night, so I wanted to use what little time I had playing. Hopefully,
I'll be installing it tonight.

Strange. I have them on my desktop which is just DR and my notebook
which is just Catacombs, no DR as yet.

Maybe they are not in the trial for some reason so you don't get them
if you upgrade from that, although that would be weird because you
would need them the most?

Anyway, I'll email them to you on the email address here. If that's a
spam trap, like mine, I'll meet you in-game and we can arrange
something there.

Hehe Smile.

Far from a true Alby though, only part time Alby.

I'm a Hibby/Middy. I play Alb now and again out of charity because
they need the help Wink.
