Let me start off by making sure we're all on the same page. Everyone
knows that the only reason someone chooses to be an ingame Hunter is
because they are somehow trying to replace a lost pet/love in their
life. This is a sweeping statement, so do not think that I've forgotten
those who are just social failures, or those that like animals in an
inappropriate manner.
Having said that, these people have nothing to be proud of. Being the
"lonely" option of professions, Blizzard has chosen them to be
virtually useless in all fighting scenarios. Countless times, I have
encountered on in a group of trees, just sitting down. I ask them, why
are you just sitting, and sometimes they don't answer. Sometimes they
just get up and run away. Sometimes they say something stupid and get
me very angry. I have never received a satisfactory answer.
Now this is my point. I am a human rogue on Uther, and after my second
week of playtime, I have secured the 14th level. I did it through
nothing but my own hard work. I am not a Hunter. Now, what I don't find
fair is, why do Hunters look to join groups, and take items? If they
are going to be of no use when the end of the game comes, and the big
wars start, then why are we cheating other players out of items they
might very well use in battle? A hunter, and this is my speculation,
simply like to try on items and sit in the forest, or near a lake. They
are usually simple minded. Could Blizzard not specifically make an item
ONLY for hunters? That is, an item useful to nobody, but just so they
have something to wear?
I am sick of seeing them in a group, taking a heal that should have
been mine. Thankfully till now I have never allowed a Hunter to get an
item in my party. I just want an official means of doing this, rather
than having to deal with unstable emotions. >> Stay informed about: Controversial, yet important : The Hunter dilemma. |

I'm a level 60 social failure and I will roll on that inappropriate
manner if it ever drops for my party.

It's not that simple, if you look at the maths behind the hunter class,
you'll see that two-parts souls highly benefit from +spirit gear,
especially with the talent spirit bond - I won't go into the details,
but unfortunately there's no need to put a religious aspect as for why
you play a hunter, simply because the spirit bonus from the Devout set
gets a hard nerf in 1.10. The new 6 parts set bonus on magister rocks
for hunters though (chance to freeze attackers).

We rock at sitting in the wilderness. And we're the only class capable
of feeding animals. Tame beast is the best crowd control in the whole
game.

It's not compulsory behaviour, it's justice. There is a telepathic rule
all around the hunter community, saying that for each broken tooth,
sin'dall, bloodaxe worg, King B or Zul'gurub bat kill, a hunter rolls
need.

"Your Tame Beast was resisted by Ornery Plainstrider."
That pisses me off. I need more +spell hit% gear.

You are both mistaken. It's not robbery. We need specific gear so we
can tame special beasts for the Ashbringer (the second hunter epic
quest)
With the correct gear a hunter is able to tame Gazh'ranka in Zul'Gurub
(requires a crit tame beast). The gear is rather hard to obtain,
because you need a mix of +hit% and +crit% to maximize your chances.
Bring the new pet to Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh. He will give you a
quest - basically it's a series of pointless farms (felstriker, devout
robes, magister hat, valor shoulders, lightforge belt, nightstalker
boots, bloodfang pants, ten storm bracers, eye of shadow and will of
arlokk). The last quest Nat Pagle gives (after you're done with the
grind) requires a flask of petrification, a flask of the titans, five
savory deviate delights, a jubling and 30 darkmoon ale jugs.
Nat Pagle, while drinking the darkmoon ale, will melt all the items you
brought to him into a huge cauldron for one day, until there's the
message "you have a strange feeling about this.". Just fish inside the
cauldron (300 fishing is enough) and you will get an Archjubling (which
is basically a vanity pet). Go visit the Soothsayer in NE Tanaris with
the Archjubling and he will give you the last quest of the series:
"[60]From the Ashes", and a new skill, "Ashes to ashes" (which allows
you to disenchant items into piles of Ashes). You will need to feed
your Archjubling pet with 666,666 piles of Ashes.
The Archjubling will then explode, and by looting it you will obtain
"Ashbringer, Legendary Blade of the Scarlet Highlord", the orange two
handed sword with nice strength bonus and powerful procs.

I keep telling priests that they shouldn't heal me. They won't listen.
I hate them. That's why I sometimes disenchant eyes of divinity and
give them the nexus. Just to make sure they *never* forget.

Ok, after carefully reviewing all your replies individually ( I like to
copy and paste them into Microsoft Word XP edition, one at a time, so I
can give my full attention to each reply. This way I do not let the
anger of one reply spill over to the next ), I would like to say that
many of you are simply ignoring the point I have tried to make.
Sure, you joke about yourselves every now and then. Everyone likes to
poke fun at themelves. That is what we call "human nature". However, I
am not part of you, so have some respect. Having studied a great deal,
I did detect a great deal of misery in certain posts. Misery that
bordered on suicidal. I will not name names because that is not what an
educated man would do.
Anyway, let us keep this strictly WoW related.
Instead of trying to assume I'm making a joke, because really, I find
Hunters disgusting, there's no two ways about it, let's reply to worthy
concerns. Why did I say virtually useless in a fight? Listen, I know
you people felt attacked for some reason. I am not saying that you have
absolutely no use to the community. I know Blizzard would give you some
role, which is why I let you into my groups. It is not your fault that
you are as you are. It is the arrogance I cannot stand.
When you join my group, and your animal dies, I felt like you've
disgraced the rest of us. Instead of acting ashamed, more often than
not you bring it back to life afterwards. I force myself to look away
from the screen when I see you feeding your animal, putting names on
your animal, getting money from our group etc. Your profession is a
stepping stone to something else, like Warlock (never rogue), for
whenever you get over whatever RL issues forced you to be a Hunter, so
therefore do not reach for the gold medal when you were warming the
bench.
Also, please do not try to socialise in my post. There are several
websites for lonely people. Sorry to sound harsh, but let's just keep
this about WoW. >> Stay informed about: Controversial, yet important : The Hunter dilemma. |

<snip newbie hunter hate>
Let me, A non WoW Player (but I have been monitoring this NG for some
time), tell you what a hunter is for in the WoW "experience".
Firstly, While a hunter is a predominantly solo class, their main role
in groups is to provide ranged damage and some Crowd control (via the
traps they have). You might say, a mage can do the same (possibly more
efficiently), but a mage with no mana = useless. Sure a hunter can run
out of arrows (or bullets as the case may be), but that is very unlikely
given the amount that they can carry (200?). Also while some mobs/people
can drain mana, I'm yet to hear of something draining arrows.
Being a rogue, you might say who needs ranged DPS (a rogue after all is
a melee DPS). To my knowledge, a number of bosses have and AoE attack,
that they are more than likely to use on the Tank. Being in melee range,
chances are that a melee DPS (such as a rogue) will be hit. While no
doubt, you could take a hit or 2, much more, and you'd be dead (and I'm
sure you know that dead = useless). Don't get me wrong, Melee DPS is
usually greater than ranged (but they would tend to have more downtime).
From what I've heard, the hunters pet is generally left out of
instances (due to various control problems), but they also (if
controlled correctly) can add to DPS, or even tank (as that is what the
hunter generally uses them to do while soloing).

Not a bad troll, sir, just keep working on your style, and you may well
get there someday. If you do happen to play a rogue, then I can empa-
thize with your detestation of all hunters. But just pull those arrows out
of yer pwned bum, go rez yer body, and don't let them get under your
skin so much. It's only a game, and hunters happen

Look. Friends (and I use that term VERY loosely, sorry to say). We are
seriously getting NOWHERE with this discussion. Do you not even listen
to yourselves speak anymore? Please take the time and trouble to read
my original post, because I spent a long time making it AS CLEAR as
possible.
As you can see right now I am putting in capital letters things I want
to emphasise.
Disregarding those that tried to derail my point of view, let us
regroup and attack the matter at hand.
To be honest, none of you have convinced me that you are not socially
inept people. I come across as someone who has a wide range of
possibilities in life. I play a human rogue, which shows I am
adventurous, daring, cunning, invisible, courageous, noble, unique, and
very very popular. I would ask you to describe yourselves one by one,
but I wouldn't want to leave you tongue tied. So I will do it for you.
You are second rate professions. Note, I didn't say you PLAY second
rate professions. Also note, I had so many things to say about myself,
but when it came to you, it was just a few words.
Nevermind that. Here is another question I have for hunters and pets
alike. I became very annoyed one time, when the hunter took out a wolf,
and then I noticed him rolling on items that had the word Wolf on them.
Example: Bracers of the Wolf etc. Firstly, I said he could not roll.
Now I said, what is this? You are not fit to take our items, and now

kicked him out hard, and I put him on ignore. I spent the next fifteen
minutes messaging people in the area and saying, put this person on
ignore. I gave them one chance. Just say yes. If they even say Why?,
then they're on ignore. That's it.
Do not feel I am moving away from the point. This is all my anger at
Hunters. I am hoping to make everything clear by the time we are more
educated. >> Stay informed about: Controversial, yet important : The Hunter dilemma. |
