Since in order to get the national dex we have to complete the Sinnoh
dex first, does this mean we actually need to catch all 150 pokemon, or
just see them?

I *think* it's the latter, but this would be different from the other
games -- although in the other games to get the national dex didn't
require completing anything first, so I would imagine they'd make it a
little easier for us. But the legendary and the fossil seem like they
might still be difficult to see.

Just need to see them.

The fossils are dug up in the underground, in both diamond and pearl, I got
them in the 3rd or 4th "buldged wall". Just luck I guess.

If you have wireless access, is pretty easy to trade the fossil
pokémon on the GTS (Global Trading System).

How do you know where you're at in that underground. All the wall look
alike to me.
I haven't really played that game that much because I'm waiting for my
player's guide to get here. I need some questions answered.

The only way you know where you're at in the Underground is to look at
the map on the top screen.

Since you always exit the Underground exactly where you entered, your
location relative to the regular map isn't that important.

Your location in the Underground, where your Secret Base(s) are, and
areas where you can find dig points (and/or traps) are all displayed on
the map on the top screen. Unfortunately, the locations of the three
underground merchants isn't shown, so you'll have to gradually
familiarize yourself with those locations if you want to deal with them
regularly.

You've also been informed that the Underground involves wireless
functionality. Chet has already told you that you don't need it to head
into the Underground. However, wireless functionality will only ever
come into play in the Underground when you can directly connect to
someone. Basically, if the person is physically nearby (like in the
same room you are in), you can interact with that person in the
Underground. If you would need to connect to them through an
intermediary wireless network, you won't be able to interact with them
in the Underground. You will simply be alone.

So, unless you know someone else who has the game and will be playing it
in your presence, or go to a restaurant/cafe/shop/wherever and someone
else in there is playing the game at the same time, you'll spend your
time in the Underground alone.

As I have stated several times, I need the players guide which I'm
waiting for and then I will definitely understand the game a lot better
especially the underground and the contest part of the game. Once I get
the idea of it, then I'd probably go there more often because it does
sound interesting.

It doesn't matter to me if I play with another player or play it alone.
Look at Daramark, at the misforunate he or she encountered because of
looking for someone to trade with. I enjoy playing video games by
myself.
