Under Spatterlight on MAC OSX Floatpoint does NOT work. Rather it gives
a couple of screens and then gives the error message: sigsegv. It does
not work at all under Zoom. It DOES work on the Wintel side though.

It looks like a bug in Spatterlight, as far as I can see. (But I
haven't debugged it much.)

I don't think the released versions of Zoom have support for the latest
Glulx spec, so it won't work there.

You are correct about Mac Zoom. It also does not work with Winfrotz 2K
under Windows either.

OK I just downloaded .4.8b. I didn't know there was a newer version. It
appears to work OK.

Do you have the newest version of Spatterlight?

I played through the entirety of Floatpoint on Spatterlight yesterday
afternoon, in fact. I rather en-

ehhhsorry.

James

That's very interesting. but for some reason with the exception of
Floatpoint. I'm able to run all the zblorb games from Comp '06 with
WinFrotz2K. Are they not true zblorb files? Slightly confused here.

Windows Frotz isn't any sort of Glulx interpreter, so no, it won't run
under that. Nor will any Glulx game.

Note that the extension of Floatpoint should be .gblorb instead of
..zblorb. I've noted this on the main page of the competition site.

zblorb is just an archival format; it can contain Glulx or Zcode games.
As Stephen said, though, it should properly be gblorb in this case.

A multi-interpreter like Spatterlight or Gargoyle can sniff it out correctly.

James

Blorb is an archival format. ".zblorb" is a filename suffix which
should be applied to Blorb files containing Z-code.

I actually had trouble with Spatterlight until I renamed it to
".gblorb". Some metadata import module kept crashing, causing strange
Finder error dialogs.

This is a known problem. I believe it is a big-endian-ness bug in Git.
Try the newest release of Spatterlight (0.4.8b) which uses Glulxe as
default.

To be technical, *blorb* is an archival format that can contain glulx
or zcode games. .zblorb is an extension that was intended to signal
that the blorb contains a z-code game -- it's irritating that I7
doesn't output glulx blorb files with the correct extension (at least,
I assume that's the problem, unless Emily renamed it for some reason).

Have already downloaded .4.8b and the game works fine now.

No, the current version of I7, at least on Mac OS, outputs both Glulx
and Z-code games with the extension ".zblorb"

It should work with Zoom 1.0.5: you will need to rename it to .blb to
persuade the glulx plug-in to recognise the file. There's a bug in the
metadata routines that will cause a crash if Zoom thinks it has a blorb
file containing a z-code game.

Note that Zoom 1.0.5 does not support inline images, so there will be
display glitches. These are going to be addressed in the next release.
(It also has pretty minimal glulx integration: that's also being
addressed)

Andrew.
