Post subject: {Comp 54} Results ready
Archived from groups: rec>games>roguelike>angband (more info?)

Hi All,

The results of competition 54 are now ready for viewing. From what
I've heard there have been a couple of high scorer who posted up the
Angband.oook.cz, but didn't send to me, so didn't get into my web-
site.

I've had a suggestion of running 2 competitions side-by-side
(FAangband & Steamband). I don't mind doing this as a one-off, but
part of the reason that the competitions have been becoming less
frequent is that I'm getting very little time to manage it, so I don't
think this will be a permanent fixture.

Anyway let me know what you think

Cheers
Tony

Yeah, the story is, GCD mastered the Smaug himself:

but:

The funny thing is, I erased my savefile with the Beorn unique killed a month
ago, too,
in the same circumstances, but I started another character and only managed to
get Beorn
last hours before New Year with tremendous luck and a smattering of recklessness
Wink,
see the character dump:

Anyway, thank you all for a lot of fun competing
and thank you avh for managing the competition!

Thanks again for running these. It's a great way to experience other variants. I
suggest that rather than run comps in parallel and put extra work on yourself,
the maintainers of the respective variants strap their wrists together and go at
each other with daggers (1d4).

If it's a correct assumption that what limits participation in comps is
time, then running two in parallel cannot be of benefit. The assumption may
be wrong in the general case though. It's certainly true for me, so I would
much rather the FA and Steam comps ran consecutively.

That's a good point. I'd be entirely happy with that, in either order *chickens
out of knife fight*.

You could opt for a chicken fight, but in that case Steamband is the
clear winner.

Yes, FA is a bit light on for poultry.

Too bad you clucked up the spelling on that!

'Cause otherwise you pecked up on a good start for a pun game!
