Archived from groups: rec>games>video>arcade (more info?)

I have 2 Coin Comparitors that I am trying to use for sorting coins. These
coin comparitors are typically used in arcade or slot machines. I haven't
got a clue on how to wire them to make them work. I thought I could just
hook them up to an appropriate power supply and I'd be set. I want to drop a
coin into the comparitor and if it matches the signature of the coin I place
in the comparison spot then it will drop it into the accept bucket, if not,
then the reject bucket.

The Coin Comparitors are as follows:
CC-40 Coin Mechanisms 12VDC (Used). There is a 6 plug module. The color
wires from the harness are as follows:
1 - Gray
2 - Purple
3 - Red
4 - Empty
5 - Orange
6 - Black

I have a 12V power supply and was able to hook it up to the Orange as
positive and Gray as Negative and get the led light to come on, but doesn't
appear to be working as it should.

The other Coin Comparitor:
CC-16E, INH Coin Mechanisms (New)
It also has a 6 prongs on it, but I haven't been able to get any kind of
activity out of it.

Appreciate any help on this.

Below find the connections as according to my schematic (1991) for these units.

Still not sure what to do to make it work. I should be able to connect my
12V power supply to pin 5, but where do I connect the other ends. Will I
even be able to just have the coin comparitor work without hooking it up to
a machine.

Hook up the +12 to pin 5, and common to pin 6. Put the reference coin
in the slot and set the adjustment all the way to counterclockwise.

Feed the coin to accept in - does it accept? LED should go out and the
solenoid should drop the coin out the slot under the LED (rear of mech
when mounted on a coin door).

If that doesn't work, turn the adjustment all the way clockwise (it's
one or the other, can't recall) and test again.

Once it starts accepting the valid coin/token, then turn the adjustment
back until it REJECTS the coin/token. This is the worst case setting,
turn the adjustment back 1/8 turn and it should then accept all valid
coins/tokens, but reject anything else.

Now you can decide to either use the mech to signal directly (pin 3) or
simply mount it so an accepted coin trips the coin switch (or whatever
mechanical stuff) that tells the machine a valid payment has been made.

Hope that is clear enough!
