| not sure what to do with the file, so now I will proceed to check the
| FAQ and see exactly what to do. Smile

I know. That's what you suggested I do when I started lurking / posting
here.... Wink

OT - Phoenix, I currently have a P4 2.4C processor on an Intel D865GBF
motherboard. I currently have 2 HDDs 20 GB 5400 rpm (really old) & 40 GB
7200 rpm parallel IDE. Since my motherboard supports SATA as well, can I buy
a new SATA HDD and attach that in place of the 20 GB. Will the arrangement
work ?( one parallel and one serial HDD?? ).

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the onboard graphics chipset which is quite
alright for C2; OK for C3 but the cutscenes in C3 are jerky and nearly
unviewable! Sad

TIA + Regards,
Sparx

| If it does, then you can
| disable onboard gfx and just pop in an AGP graphics card.
| If it doesn't, then there is nothing much you can do Sad
|
| Make sure you keep the drivers updated.

AGP slot is available. Permission to obtain a graphics card is not. My Dad
believes that PC games are a distraction that one should live without. So,
it's not that resources are unavailable, it's just that orders countermand
my wishes. Anyway, I'm happy with the onboard graphics for the games that I
play.

Thanks for replying back quickly.

On a side-note, I turned 24 yesterday.

Yay!

Hehe Smile
At 24, you should be able to convince your dad about the card Smile
I am going to be 20 in Dec and I know how to convince my dad for
something Smile

Anyway, show your dad the studies, where they found out that people
who played PC games had quicker reflexes and quicker response times to
life threatening situations. They could also analyze complex
situations faster than people who did not play games.
And its true. Whenever I am walking along the road, my eyes are
automatically peeled for some untoward movement. If someone pops in
from a place, I immediately focus, aim (Very Happy), analyze, then move on.
And its all subconscious, so fast I don't even notice it unless I am
checking myself.

Well, as long as you are happy with the onboard gfx, then its no
problem. But maybe you can get a card on your own, maybe he'll accept
it if you just get one on your own. Or is he against video gaming in
general, and not so much as to the buying of gaming hardware?

Correct. He wishes I'd pay what little time I spend playing on more
"constructive" activities.
Anyways, going totally OT here.

One's own entertainment is his own business.
Playing games isn't more different that reading a book.
Both of these activities require concentration.
Reading a book of course is a mental exercise,
while playing games is either a physical activity.
Both of them are important. It always depends on one's interests.

You need to form your own opinion on the subject. Don't let others judge
things for you.
Being a mature adult is about making decisions.

I would preferably have said mostly a physical activity.
Playing games like playing sports, not computer games.
If you refer to pc games, then yes, they are a bit of both.

> The whole argument against games is like an argument against TV.

Mostly its a generation gap argument.
What older people do not understand, they easily condemn it.

Yes, around the 28th... I get one whole year older for just 3 days...

Yes, I really meant pc games. Razz

True. Luckily, while I had to use a few methods of random words with
double meanings to convince my father, mostly now he has started to
understand a little bit about the computer world and is quite
enthusiastic about it too. Earlier, he used to hate computers.
Plus, he really does not have any problem with me playing games. So
thats pretty good Smile

Hehe...I keep showing my parents some of the new graphically advanced
games (showed them C2 a long time back) and they're always pretty
impressed.

I am a gamer, so I play games on my PC, my cellphone, my PDA, my
laptop, I even had a watch with a few games on it...
