Hi,
I have already wasted a lot of CDs by obviously using wrong settings to
burn a *ccd image. Now I wondered whether someone could give me some
advice to complete the burning process successfully.
In CloneCd options mode I chose "game cd", but my dreamcast does not
regonize the burnt disc properly: it is identified as a music cd and
therefore keeps on switching automatically to CD-Player mode...
Regards,

DC games are beyond cheap nowadays, why bother burning DC games with
dumbed down audio and video when the real things are A) Less effort(just
buy, plug and play) B) still so easily found on the net?

Well, it could be a .ccd image of homebrewed software, there is actually a
good amount of it out there for the Dreamcast.

Maybe it's Propellor Arena, the Flintstones, PGA Bowling...?
Barring someone saying something like "How do I get Virtua Tennis for
free, Sega d0n+ deserve $#!+" or someone selling copies, it may be time
to not assume the worst... >> Stay informed about: Dreamcast: Which CloneCD settings to burn *ccd image? |

That's true(though I still think PA is a waste of a CD).
What's up with Flintstones and PGA Bowling? I've not ever heard of these(for
DC)...

I haven't gotten around to figuring out how to burn the unreleased games
myself, and I know nothing about the gameplay of the Flintstones, but
PBA (it might've been what I said, but other than Tiger Woods, how many
golfers are people going to recognize?) Bowling is a title that was
online, even tho it was never actually released.

Hi again,
I already expected a few suspect statements - but I'll try to
enlighten you: The game I'm trying to burn on a disc is "Worldwide
Soccer", because I bought "Worldwide Soccer Euro Edition" on eBay and
it does not work on my Dreamcast.
I had the same issue with "Wacky Races" and when I could not even
resolve the problem by manipulating my DC's hardware
("Sreichholztrick"), I decided to try another method: get the game by
emule and then copy it on a simple CD-R...well, it worked. And in that
case there are no legal obstacles, are there any? >> Stay informed about: Dreamcast: Which CloneCD settings to burn *ccd image? |

Hmmmmm, are you trying to play NTSC games on a PAL DC? If so, I don't
know what all goes into that...though I've got this disc called "DC-X"
that will allow me to play some PAL games in my NTSC DC. I don't know if
that'd work in reverse or not..

No, not at all. And when I play JAP or US, I use "DC-X" and everything
works fine . The problem is a general "malfunction" that concerns all
types of games, not matter whether PAL, US etc... I could get a used
JAP DC at a local retail store, but I just bought a PS2 so I'm looking
for a rather cheap solution for that problem.
And I don't want to risk to damage the laser by touching it when I try
to clean the lense (I don't know if that is the problematic point at
all...). >> Stay informed about: Dreamcast: Which CloneCD settings to burn *ccd image? |

Yeah, I wouldn't touch the laser, that's a sure-fire way to kill the DC.
About the only thing I can think of would be to attempt copying the DC
game give you trouble, and trying to burn it with a "self-boot" image in
front of it. I don't know if that would work, and I wouldn't even begin to
know how to do that...but that's all I've got.
.....then again, do you happen to have the Utopia Boot Disc? They say that
some games that won't boot with the DC-X *will* boot with the UBD(and
vice-versa). If you don't have one, try to get one(use Google) and if you
can't find one via Google, just shoot me an email...I'll shoot it to you.

Yes, I have the Utopia Boot Disc, but DC-X's compatibility is
unrivalled and I rarely use Utopia (in fact only for Whacky Races).
Nevertheless, I'll give it a try later - and post the result of the
"experiment". But that would be close to a miracle, because it is
completely illogical (use a Boot CD to play a original PAL game on a
PAL system ). >> Stay informed about: Dreamcast: Which CloneCD settings to burn *ccd image? |

Well, no surprise: The Utopia disc isn't the right remedy...
Either buy this japanese DC (but I don't want to spend money for
virtually "nothing") or I get it finally done to burn Worldwide Soccer
properly on a CD-R (which shouldn't be too difficult, right?).
So may I return to the original question of this topic : What
burning profile should I choose for the *ccd-image ("Game" didn't work;
two options left: "Multimedia" or "Data")? >> Stay informed about: Dreamcast: Which CloneCD settings to burn *ccd image? |

If there are only two settings left, just burn each one of them. Blank CD's
are about 5 cents each these days, if that much. At least that's what I
would do.

I cannot unpack the incomplete image anyway, let alone burn it... The
problem I (and some more Bittorrent & emule users) face is: Worldwide
Soccer Euro Edition is well-spread in the network, but the decisive
fact is that evidently not a single user has the complete file.
However, it's ok with me when I manage to burn Worldwide Socer 2000 on
a disc, it's at least a substitution for the Euro Edition . >> Stay informed about: Dreamcast: Which CloneCD settings to burn *ccd image? |
