New Client? - Host is close to be updated to version 196. Are there a new client version in course? All we hope so, and some are welcomen like -Quick Build Full Control (use any parts included the stored one at bases, preset cargo and preset..

client feature request - this would be a nice client feature: new minister function: build and cities => should build according to optimal formula as stated in the wiki. (30 more than cities).

Simple client improvement suggestion - On the Races screen, you currently see up to 30 buttons. You can see the details of just one player at a time. In big games, I often get confused as to who's who. Could we please have the 30 players listed down the screen thus? - Player number (1-30),

client feature request: automatic grav mine cloaking - this would be a nice feature that would save time. If you set waypoint for a ship client and grav mines are in its path the client should ask if it should disable those grav mines.

Here are some client requests that I have also added to the wiki. If you
(dis)like them, please comment.
More publicity may make it more likely that they might actually be added to
the client.

CSV Files Naming
-------------------
Details
Make a setting to generate CSV Files automatically when unpacking an rst and
save them in the "WAR" folder. The filenames

Motivation
There are a couple of problems with the current csvs:

* You have to make your CSV files manually.
* The planets installation uses only 1 set of CSVs (new csvs overwriting
the old ones)!
o The client can't handle CSVs from different games concurrently.
o The client can't handle CSVs from different players in a game
concurrently.
o The client can't handle CSVs from different turns of a player in
a game concurrently.

SMPT Mail Authorization
--------------------------
Details
Allow the client to send RST-files using an Email Account, that requires
SMTP-Authorization

Motivation
Most Email-Accounts nowadays require SMTP-Authorization in order to prevent
spam. The current client does not work with these accounts and makes it
necessary to use an external email programm or a webbased user interface of
a hosting-site in order to send RST-files.

Auto-open Game-Slot List / Select Slot
----------------------------------------
Details
Always open the "Game-Slot" List Window when starting the planets client and
select the first "non-empty" slot of the "Game-Slot" List Window.

Motivation
Currently when opening the client, you have to press the "files" button in
order to open the game-slot window. This is an unneccesary click. Then you
have to select (one of) your current game(s). Auto selecting the first slot
is simply more convenient.

Game Configure Settings
-------------------------
Details
Extend the Game Configure settings window to let it show all HConfig
settings.

Motivation
Currently the game configure settings window shows only some of the Hconfig
settings. I see no reason, why the other settings should not be shown there.

i have a client request.
the manual clearing of the directorys is getting kinda redundantly
unliked by me.
..for once id like to see clear player slot, actually clear player slot
and not try to bring up past or old game turn files when im trying to
fill it with a new game.
to me if the client finds it neccessary to keep old game data, perhaps
the client should compress those old files and name it retiredgame.001
and keep it in a new folder under the planets directory called retired
games. then after compression and the files have been moved to to the
retired game directory, all files in that slot be it war or univ
directory be deleted to allow for a new game to be played in its slot.

and same thing for masters version, where it says clear host
directory, and clear player directory.
in addition id like to see the host backup ffiles automatically so i
dont have write a script to perform the same action for every game.
add a button on the host, call it admin. after entering the admin
screen, the host can be ordered to restore a game up to 5 turns prior.
the host funtion would have some changes, when pressing the run host
the very first thing it would do is create its backup copy to be used
by the host admin page at a later time should it be required. if
players choose not to have backup/restores made they can disable this
function of the host run by selecting an option in the host to keep
backup copys yes/no

Please add faint grey lines between wormholes and do not delete them /
convert them to "unknown" once scanned. Latter point also goes for JG's.
Line should be switch on / offable in the client as some games have many
WH's.

Two more requests, that imho should be easy to make, but would provide great
chances to ehance the program:

Unpack / MakeTurn
---------------------

Details
Move the functionality of unpacking an RST-file and making the TRN-file into
seperate programs (unpack.exe, maketrn.exe).

Motivation
Currently the functionality is bound to the planets4.exe. Seperate programs
could be called by other applications as well thus providing more
flexibility.

Front-End
----------

Details
Make the "Game-Slot" List Window of the current client a seperate program,
that is used to start the "real" game in a slot. The "real" game could be
started with a command line switch denoting the game-slot you want to play.

Motivation
In fact the current "Game-Slot" List Window functions as a front-end, but is
bound to the rest of the client. making it a seperate programm would allow
to make an alternative front-end without making changes to the rest of the
client (e.g. including automated csv-creation ,or authorized smtp, or a
tutorial program).

Mentioned this one before...
in "Groups" management where you can add hull type a great addition
would be to add a "limit to X LY from current location" check box.
That way you could quickly add... say 200 ships with very few clicks.
This would make my Christmas for me... especially now that in the game
I'm in we just wrapped around the 20k object mark and new ships will
be spaced sparcely amongst old ships... icky...
