I just saw some clever shop robbing by Stupermon on NAO. Stupermon
led a hostile Centaur in a shop, then dropped all his gold. The Centaur
picked up the money and followed Stupermon out of the shop, where it was
killed. The hostile Centaur picked up the gold immediately when led
over it, then followed the player right away. So much faster than using
a pet.

This should work with any hostile monster that has M2_GREEDY; this
includes all orcs and dwarves (including their mummified versions),
ogres, dragons, mind flayers, and leprechauns.

Very nice. I'll keep that one in mind. >> Stay informed about: Clever Shop Robbing by Stupermon on NAO |

I just put a boulder in the doorway, pick up everything I want, and dig
through the floor or zap a wand of digging. Sure the Kops get called, but
no murderer flag for wiping them out and the shopkeeper is trapped in his
store behind the boulder. >> Stay informed about: Clever Shop Robbing by Stupermon on NAO |

Removes the chance of price-identification.

Do that first, if at all. I only use price-ID for a handful of items
anyway.
Massive robbery is more for a general dungeon shop. I leave the minetown
stores alone. >> Stay informed about: Clever Shop Robbing by Stupermon on NAO |

I'll confess, I am Sparticus... er. Stupermon.
I've been using 'greedy' monsters for credit cloning for many years
now, see my old post at
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.roguelike.nethack/msg/d88a7816d3a21971
for an example of using that to rob the black market in Slashem, that I
posted back in 1999.
Stupermon is trying to ascend all classes, and has currently finished
Ran Hum Mal Neu
Wiz Elf Mal Cha
Cav Dwa Fem Law
Arc Dwa Mal Law
Bar Orc Fem Cha
out of 12 attempts (not counting the quit when I accidentally requested
a random character instead of a gnomish healer).
and is in the middle of ascending a male gnomish healer. >> Stay informed about: Clever Shop Robbing by Stupermon on NAO |

And the shopkeep gets to keep his money.
