Wow, what a wasteland! Nothing in this discussion group but bot spam.
Anyone out there still play Civ2? I love the WWII scenario and know
it well.

As Germany, I capture Britain (except the mountainous north tip) on
turn 2. On turn 3 two infantry ships leave for America (followed by
aircaraft carriers on turn 4). On the turn they arrive, the game ends
as I have also captured all of Russia and the middle east. Would love
to discuss the strategy and tactics to do this if anyone interested.

Signed,
The only living boy in New York

I have it installed on my notebook. I haven't played it recently, but
it seems to work in comparison to CIV 4.

Wow, that's fast.

I think I'll want to self-learn that - makes it a bit more fun.

I still enjoy Civ II.

Hope it goes well. I will just recommend that you disband 2 alpine
units in Amsterdam on turn 1 in order to build another troop carrier.

I think you can only win this fast if you are a micromanager, which
some people enjoy and some don't. But fast & loose play can still win
quite quickly with the same strategy.

I am sure you know that in general, putting a military unit on a square
within a rival city area prevents the rival from working the square:
however I wonder whether there is any way of doing that on a sea square? I
have tried with a battleship, and a ship containing a military unit, but it
doesn't work.

Last time I played Civ II was when I had Linux on my computer. Or was it a version of Civ I? Hell if I remember, but Civ II was one of the first games I ever played. Love that game!

I still check here every once in a while.
I'd like to know how you did it.
