Hi Folks:

While many on this forum mourn the passing of DF2 I, like many
others, play it online every weekend.

What's the rule when overlooking the enemy's re-spawning area?

I've watched some re-spawn and run off, and others re-spawn and
come out shooting immediately.

I assume anybody who wants to come out shooting is fair game,
but what of those who want to scoot?

Is there any hand held weapon that pumps out cascades of
grenades? Or is that the work of cheats?

Can someone direct me to a site that describes the rules of
fair play for DF2?

Thanks
Larry (AKA Dragon)

IMO it kinda depends on what game you're playing. The spawinpoint has a
different value in a TKOTH game compared to a S&D game.

No, only mounted guns so it's a cheat when someone runs around puking out
granades.

The basic rules are.
1. Use common sense.
2. Be nice to other players.
3. Don't cheat or use glitches.

A lot of it weights on the server you are on. If you are on the Nova
servers then I would (personally) recommend against shooting people as they
respawn. I derived this opinion after hours of sitting on empty servers....
If you get someone new to the game, or just not good at it, they will
usually leave the server after they realize they are spending more time
respawing then they are playing.

Thanks Henrik and Zero:

I rarely play Death Match, or King of the hill, if I have any
other option.

At what point would you shoot at someone after they re-spawn,
assuming no offensive action? Would you just not track them?

I was recently informed that sniping from the wreckage of
destroyed buildings was considered cheating.

If memory serves, something called "Jump shooting" is also
considered unfair. What's jump shooting? "Hopping up and down
like a bunny". What's that about? What is the unfair advantage
in jumping up and down while shooting?

Long ago I was told SAWs were also unfair.

There may be good reasons for these rules, but they aren't
obvious to me.

I want to thank all of the non-cheats who do battle online with
DF2. It's a great way to have fun.

I appreciate your responses. And lets see some more non-cheaters
on those servers. I'd guess there are typically a hundred players
on the weekends. More would be better.

Thanks
Larry - AKA Dragon

When i see them, i'm not really that picky. =) The main difference is that
on certain gametyps i wouldn't go after their spawn but rather the natural
way out from it.

It's hard to give general advices since the gametypes differs so much. On a
TKOTH map you can really "prove your point" if you're dominating the zone
and are keeping them in their spawn and it's not "wrong" to do it but i
generay backs off abit after a few kills for the gameplays sake. On a SD or
AD map i'd be happy to kill them as fast as they spawn to give my team an
advantage.

> I was recently informed that sniping from the wreckage of

Personaly i think itīs more glitching then cheating since you get the
advantage from a glitch in the game but it's pretty much up to the admins of
the server. I try not to do it but i would lie if i said i never does it.

Not really sure if you can still do it in DF2 after the updates. In the
beginning you could press your jump button and you kept on jumping up and
down. In some circumstance it could be a bitch to hit an opponant who used
this tactic. Kinda like the jump-crunch in BF

> Long ago I was told SAWs were also unfair.

That's just plain old whining. =) I think you could call it a status thing,
you can put a shitload of lead in the air with the saw and pretty much
"spray and pray" your opponants to death with it. Therefore some people
consider it a newbie weapon. People using bunnyjumping often used SAW which
also reduced it's reputation.

Hey, If the server allows it and you like it you should use it.

Hey, nice to see someone post here! Smile I still play an occasional
game of df2, but I spend a lot more time in LW.

Like the others have said, it is up to the host/squad. there are several
sites to visit. dfbarracks.com, ripdf2.com, and ufp-squad.com. the last
are A&D squads that have been around 5 years or so.
